73ceb12960 Remove the unused sh4eb target
Since the "shix" machine has been removed, the "r2d" machine is the only
machine that is still available for the sh4 and sh4eb targets. However,
the "r2d" machine apparently does not work in big endian mode, see here:

 https://lore.kernel.org/qemu-devel/87a5fwjjew.wl-ysato@users.sourceforge.jp/

So there is no working machine left in the sh4eb-softmmu target, i.e. it
is currently completely useless. Thus remove it from the configuration
now. (Note: The linux-user binary is not removed since it might still
be used to run sh4 binaries in big endian mode).

32cfefb904 qapi/machine: Rename CpuS390* to S390Cpu*, and drop 'prefix'
QAPI's 'prefix' feature can make the connection between enumeration
type and its constants less than obvious. It's best used with
restraint.

CpuS390Entitlement has a 'prefix' to change the generated enumeration
constants' prefix from CPU_S390_ENTITLEMENT to S390_CPU_ENTITLEMENT.
Rename the type to S390CpuEntitlement, so that 'prefix' is not needed.

Likewise change CpuS390Polarization to S390CpuPolarization, and
CpuS390State to S390CpuState.

0aa4bd6aeb qapi/machine: Drop temporary 'prefix'
Recent commit "qapi: Smarter camel_to_upper() to reduce need for
'prefix'" added a temporary 'prefix' to delay changing the generated
code.

Revert it. This improves HmatLBDataType's generated enumeration
constant prefix from HMATLB_DATA_TYPE to HMAT_LB_DATA_TYPE, and
HmatLBMemoryHierarchy's from HMATLB_MEMORY_HIERARCHY to
HMAT_LB_MEMORY_HIERARCHY.

7b29353fdd qapi: Smarter camel_to_upper() to reduce need for 'prefix'
camel_to_upper() converts its argument from camel case to upper case
with '_' between words. Used for generated enumeration constant
prefixes.

When some of the words are spelled all caps, where exactly to insert
'_' is guesswork. camel_to_upper()'s guesses are bad enough in places
to make people override them with a 'prefix' in the schema.

Rewrite it to guess better:

1. Insert '_' after a non-upper case character followed by an upper
   case character:

       OneTwo -> ONE_TWO
       One2Three -> ONE2_THREE

2. Insert '_' before the last upper case character followed by a
   non-upper case character:

       ACRONYMWord -> ACRONYM_Word

   Except at the beginning (as in OneTwo above), or when there is
   already one:

       AbCd -> AB_CD

This changes the default enumeration constant prefix for a number of
enums. Generated enumeration constants change only where the default
is not overridden with 'prefix'.

The following enumerations without a 'prefix' change:

    enum                            old camel_to_upper()

Add a 'prefix' so generated code doesn't change now. Subsequent

6f07c59fb1 qapi: convert "Example" sections with longer prose
These examples require longer explanations or have explanations that
require markup to look reasonable when rendered and so use the longer
form of the ".. qmp-example::" directive.

By using the :annotated: option, the content in the example block is
assumed *not* to be a code block literal and is instead parsed as normal
rST - with the exception that any code literal blocks after `::` will
assumed to be a QMP code literal block.

Note: There's one title-less conversion in this patch that comes along
for the ride because it's part of a larger "Examples" block that was
better to convert all at once.

See commit-5: "docs/qapidoc: create qmp-example directive", for a
              detailed explanation of this custom directive syntax.

This was in fact the initial use of this type, with

We've since added other uses: set-numa-node (commit 419fcdec3c and

query-hotpluggable-cpus uses CpuInstanceProperties within

d461c27973 qapi: convert "Note" sections to plain rST
We do not need a dedicated section for notes. By eliminating a specially
parsed section, these notes can be treated as normal rST paragraphs in
the new QMP reference manual, and can be placed and styled much more
flexibly.

Convert all existing "Note" and "Notes" sections to pure rST. As part of
the conversion, capitalize the first letter of each sentence and add
trailing punctuation where appropriate to ensure notes look sensible and
consistent in rendered HTML documentation. Markup is also re-aligned to
the de-facto standard of 3 spaces for directives.

Update docs/devel/qapi-code-gen.rst to reflect the new paradigm, and
update the QAPI parser to prohibit "Note" sections while suggesting a
new syntax. The exact formatting to use is a matter of taste, but a good
candidate is simply:

.. note:: lorem ipsum ...
   ... dolor sit amet ...
   ... consectetur adipiscing elit ...

... but there are other choices, too. The Sphinx readthedocs theme
offers theming for the following forms (capitalization unimportant); all
are adorned with a (!) symbol () in the title bar for rendered HTML
docs.

See
https://sphinx-rtd-theme.readthedocs.io/en/stable/demo/demo.html#admonitions
for examples of each directive/admonition in use.

These are rendered in orange:

.. Attention:: ...
.. Caution:: ...
.. WARNING:: ...

These are rendered in red:

.. DANGER:: ...
.. Error:: ...

These are rendered in green:

.. Hint:: ...
.. Important:: ...
.. Tip:: ...

These are rendered in blue:

.. Note:: ...
.. admonition:: custom title

   admonition body text

This patch uses ".. note::" almost everywhere, with just two "caution"
directives. Several instances of "Notes:" have been converted to
merely ".. note::", or multiple ".. note::" where appropriate.
".. admonition:: notes" is used in a few places where we had an
ordered list of multiple notes that would not make sense as
standalone/separate admonitions. Two "Note:" following "Example:"
have been turned into ordinary paragraphs within the example.

NOTE: Because qapidoc.py does not attempt to preserve source ordering of
sections, the conversion of Notes from a "tagged section" to an
"untagged section" means that rendering order for some notes *may
change* as a result of this patch. The forthcoming qapidoc.py rewrite
strictly preserves source ordering in the rendered documentation, so
this issue will be rectified in the new generator.

9f2b848857 qapi: fix non-compliant JSON examples
The new QMP documentation generator wants to parse all examples as
"QMP". We have an existing QMP lexer in docs/sphinx/qmp_lexer.py (Seen
in-use here: https://qemu-project.gitlab.io/qemu/interop/bitmaps.html)
that allows the use of "->", "<-" and "..." tokens to denote QMP
protocol flow with elisions, but otherwise defers to the JSON lexer.

To utilize this lexer for the existing QAPI documentation, we need them
to conform to a standard so that they lex and render correctly. Once the
QMP lexer is active for examples, errant QMP/JSON will produce warning
messages and fail the build.

Fix any invalid JSON found in QAPI documentation (identified by
attempting to lex all examples as QMP; see subsequent
commits). Additionally, elisions must be standardized for the QMP lexer;
they must be represented as the value "...", so three examples have been
adjusted to support that format here.

This is a counterpart to the HMP "info pic" command. It is being

236e9397b3 qmp: add dump machine type compatibility properties
To control that creating new machine type doesn't affect the previous
types (their compat_props) and to check complex compat_props inheritance
we need qmp command to print machine type compatibility properties.
This patch adds the ability to get list of all the compat_props of the
corresponding supported machines for their comparison via new optional
argument of "query-machines" command. Since information on compatibility
properties can increase the command output by a factor of 40, add an
argument to enable it, default off.

f2de3b926c qapi: Fix unintended definition lists in documentation
rST parses something like

    first line
        second line

as a definition list item, where "first line" is the term being
defined by "second line".

This bites us in a couple of places. Here's one:

    # @bps_max: total throughput limit during bursts,
    #                     in bytes (Since 1.7)

scripts/qapi/parser.py parses this into an "argument section" with
name "bps_max" and text

    total throughput limit during bursts,
	      in bytes (Since 1.7)

docs/sphinx/qapidoc.py duly passes the text to the rST parser, which
parses it as another definition list. Comes out as nested
definitions: term "bps_max: int (optional)" defined as term "total
throughput limit during bursts," defined as "in bytes (Since 1.7)".

rST truly is the Perl of ASCII-based markups.

Fix by deleting the extra indentation.

bf353ad555 qmp/hmp, device_tree.c: introduce dumpdtb
To save the FDT blob we have the '-machine dumpdtb=<file>' property.
With this property set, the machine saves the FDT in <file> and exit.
The created file can then be converted to plain text dts format using
'dtc'.

There's nothing particularly sophisticated into saving the FDT that
can't be done with the machine at any state, as long as the machine has
a valid FDT to be saved.

The 'dumpdtb' command receives a 'filename' parameter and, if the FDT is
available via current_machine->fdt, save it in dtb format to 'filename'.
In short, this is a '-machine dumpdtb' that can be fired on demand via
QMP/HMP.

This command will always be executed in-band (i.e. holding BQL),
avoiding potential race conditions with machines that might change the
FDT during runtime (e.g. PowerPC 'pseries' machine).

03b39fcf64 hw/cxl: Make the CXL fixed memory window setup a machine parameter.
Paolo Bonzini requested this change to simplify the ongoing
effort to allow machine setup entirely via RPC.

Includes shortening the command line form cxl-fixed-memory-window
to cxl-fmw as the command lines are extremely long even with this
change.

The json change is needed to ensure that there is
a CXLFixedMemoryWindowOptionsList even though the actual
element in the json is never used. Similar to existing
SgxEpcProperties.

Update qemu-options.hx to reflect that this is now a -machine
parameter. The bulk of -M / -machine parameters are documented
under machine, so use that in preference to M.

Update cxl-test and bios-tables-test to reflect new parameters.
