95a5befc2f Use qemu_tolower() and qemu_toupper(), not tolower() and toupper()
On NetBSD, where tolower() and toupper() are implemented using an
array lookup, the compiler warns if you pass a plain 'char'
to these functions:

gdbstub.c:914:13: warning: array subscript has type 'char'

This reflects the fact that toupper() and tolower() give
undefined behaviour if they are passed a value that isn't
a valid 'unsigned char' or EOF.

We have qemu_tolower() and qemu_toupper() to avoid this problem;
use them.

(The use in scsi-generic.c does not trigger the warning because
it passes a uint8_t; we switch it anyway, for consistency.)

3b00f702c2 s390x/cpumodel: add zpci, aen and ais facilities
zPCI instructions and facilities are available since IBM zEnterprise
EC12. To support z/PCI in QEMU we enable zpci, aen and ais facilities
starting with zEC12 GA1. And we always set zpci and aen bits in max cpu
model. Later they might be switched off due to applied real cpu model.
For ais bit, we only provide it in the full cpu model beginning with
zEC12 and defer its enablement in the default cpu model to a later point
in time. At the same time, disable them for 2.9 and older machines.

Because of introducing AIS facility, we could check if it's enabled to
initialize flic->ais_supported with the real value.

52629b3ba8 s390x: add css_migration_enabled to machine class
Currently the migration of the channel subsystem (css) is only partial
and is done by the virtio ccw proxies -- the only migratable css devices
existing at the moment.

With the current work on emulated and passthrough devices we need to
decouple the migration of the channel subsystem state from virtio ccw,
and have a separate section for it. A new section however necessarily
breaks the migration compatibility.

So let us introduce a switch at the machine class, and put it in 'off'
state for now. We will turn the switch 'on' for future machines once all
preparations are met. For compatibility machines the switch will stay
'off'.

817d4a6bc8 s390x/css: realize css_create_sch
The S390 virtual css support already has a mechanism to create a
virtual subchannel and provide it to the guest. However, to
pass-through subchannels to a guest, we need to introduce a new
mechanism to create the subchannel according to the real device
information. Thus we reconstruct css_create_virtual_sch to a new
css_create_sch function to handle all these cases and do allocation

274250c301 s390x/css: add s390-squash-mcss machine option
We want to support real (i.e. not virtual) channel devices
even for guests that do not support MCSS-E (where guests may
see devices from any channel subsystem image at once). As all
virtio-ccw devices are in css 0xfe (and show up in the default
css 0 for guests not activating MCSS-E), we need an option to
squash both the virtio subchannels and e.g. passed-through
subchannels from their real css (0-3, or 0 for hosts not
activating MCSS-E) into the default css. This will be

b1914b824a virtio-ccw: support VIRTIO_QUEUE_MAX virtqueues
The maximal number of virtqueues per device can be limited on a per
transport basis. For virtio-ccw this limit is defined by
VIRTIO_CCW_QUEUE_MAX, however the limitation used to come form the
number of adapter routes supported by flic (via notifiers).

Recently the limitation of the flic was adjusted so that it can
accommodate VIRTIO_QUEUE_MAX queues, and is in the meanwhile checked for
separately too.

Let us remove the transport specific limitation of virtio-ccw by
dropping VIRTIO_CCW_QUEUE_MAX and using VIRTIO_QUEUE_MAX instead.

2a79eb1a61 s390x/css: provide a dev_path for css devices
We need to implement the get_dev_path method for the css bus, or
else we might end up with two different devices having the same
qdev_path.

This was noticed when adding two scsi_hd controllers: The SCSIBus
code will produce a non-unique dev_path for vmstate usage if the
parent bus does not provide the get_dev_path method.

We simply use the device's bus id, as this is unique and we won't
have any deeper hierarchy from a channel subsystem perspective
anyway.

Note that we need to disable this for older machine versions,
as this changes the migration format.

dd70bd0d4c s390x/css: Factor out virtual css bridge and bus
Currently, common base layers virtual css bridge and bus are
defined in hw/s390x/virtio-ccw.c(h). In order to support
multiple types of devices in the virtual channel subsystem,
especially non virtio-ccw, refactoring work needs to be done.

This work is just a pure code move without any functional change
except dropping an empty function virtual_css_bridge_init() and
virtio_ccw_busdev_unplug() changing. virtio_ccw_busdev_unplug()
is specific to virtio-ccw but gets referenced from the common
virtual css bridge code. To keep the functional changes to a
minimum we export this function from virtio-ccw.c and continue
to reference it inside virtual_css_bridge_class_init()
(now living in hw/s390x/css-bridge.c). A follow-up patch will
clean this up.

da34e65cb4 include/qemu/osdep.h: Don't include qapi/error.h
Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the
Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h
everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into
possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include
any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h,
compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a
similar job to this file and are under similar constraints."
qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to
similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of
100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need.

Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of
qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't
get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List.

Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match
reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h,
sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h
comment quoted above similarly.

This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all
of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on
qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. More work is needed for that one.

db3b2566e0 s390x: machine reset function with new ipl cpu handling
Current implementation depends on the order of resets getting triggered.

If a cpu reset is triggered after the ipl device reset, the CPU is stopped and

f8ed85ac99 Fix bad error handling after memory_region_init_ram()
Symptom:

    $ qemu-system-x86_64 -m 10000000
    Unexpected error in ram_block_add() at /work/armbru/qemu/exec.c:1456:
    upstream-qemu: cannot set up guest memory 'pc.ram': Cannot allocate memory
    Aborted (core dumped)

Root cause: commit ef701d7 screwed up handling of out-of-memory
conditions. Before the commit, we report the error and exit(1), in
one place, ram_block_add(). The commit lifts the error handling up
the call chain some, to three places. Fine. Except it uses
&error_abort in these places, changing the behavior from exit(1) to
abort(), and thus undoing the work of commit 3922825 "exec: Don't
abort when we can't allocate guest memory".

The three places are:

* memory_region_init_ram()

  Commit 4994653 (right after commit ef701d7) lifted the error
  handling further, through memory_region_init_ram(), multiplying the
  incorrect use of &error_abort. Later on, imitation of existing
  (bad) code may have created more.

* memory_region_init_ram_ptr()

  The &error_abort is still there.

* memory_region_init_rom_device()

  Doesn't need fixing, because commit 33e0eb5 (soon after commit
  ef701d7) lifted the error handling further, and in the process
  changed it from &error_abort to passing it up the call chain.
  Correct, because the callers are realize() methods.

Fix the error handling after memory_region_init_ram() with a
Coccinelle semantic patch:

    @r@
    expression mr, owner, name, size, err;
    position p;
    @@
            memory_region_init_ram(mr, owner, name, size,
    (
    -                              &error_abort
    +                              &error_fatal
    |
                                   err@p
    )
                                  );
    @script:python@
        p << r.p;
    @@
    print "%s:%s:%s" % (p[0].file, p[0].line, p[0].column)

When the last argument is &error_abort, it gets replaced by
&error_fatal.  This is the fix.

If the last argument is anything else, its position is reported. This
lets us check the fix is complete. Four positions get reported:

* ram_backend_memory_alloc()

  Error is passed up the call chain, ultimately through
  user_creatable_complete(). As far as I can tell, it's callers all
  handle the error sanely.

* fsl_imx25_realize(), fsl_imx31_realize(), dp8393x_realize()

  DeviceClass.realize() methods, errors handled sanely further up the
  call chain.

We're good. Test case again behaves:

    $ qemu-system-x86_64 -m 10000000
    qemu-system-x86_64: cannot set up guest memory 'pc.ram': Cannot allocate memory
    [Exit 1 ]

The next commits will repair the rest of commit ef701d7's damage.

c4d3c0a269 s390x/migration: Introduce 2.4 machine
The section footer changes commit f68945d42b ("Add a protective

machines.

This pinpoints a problem of s390-ccw machines: it needs to
be versioned to be compatible with future changes in common
code data structures such as section footers.

Let's introduce a version scheme for s390-ccw-virtio machines.
We will use the old s390-ccw-virtio name as alias to the latest
version as all existing libvirt XML for the ccw type were expanded
by libvirt to that name.

The only downside of this patch is, that the old alias s390-ccw
will no longer be available as machines can have only one alias,
but it should not really matter.

3dd7852f19 s390x: Migrate to new NMI interface
This implements an NMI interface for s390 and s390-ccw machines.

This removes #ifdef s390 branch in qmp_inject_nmi so new s390's
nmi_monitor_handler() callback is going to be used for NMI.

Since nmi_monitor_handler()-calling code is platform independent,
CPUState::cpu_index is used instead of S390CPU::env.cpu_num.
There should not be any change in behaviour as both @cpu_index and
@cpu_num are global CPU numbers.

Note that s390_cpu_restart() already takes care of the specified cpu,
so we don't need to schedule via async_run_on_cpu().

Since the only error s390_cpu_restart() can return is ENOSYS, convert
it to QERR_UNSUPPORTED.

c165473269 hw: Clean up bogus default boot order
We set default boot order "cad" in every single machine definition
except "pseries" and "moxiesim", even though very few boards actually
care for boot order, and "cad" makes sense for even fewer.

Machines that care:

* pc and its variants

  Accept up to three letters 'a', 'b' (undocumented alias for 'a'),
  'c', 'd' and 'n'. Reject all others (fatal with -boot).

* nseries (n800, n810)

  Check whether order starts with 'n'. Silently ignored otherwise.

* prep, g3beige, mac99

  Extract the first character the machine understands (subset of
  'a'..'f').  Silently ignored otherwise.

* spapr

  Accept an arbitrary string (vl.c restricts it to contain only
  'a'..'p', no duplicates).

* sun4[mdc]

  Use the first character. Silently ignored otherwise.

Strip characters these machines ignore from their default boot order.

For all other machines, remove the unused default boot order
alltogether.

Note that my rename of QEMUMachine member boot_order to
default_boot_order and QEMUMachineInitArgs member boot_device to
boot_order has a welcome side effect: it makes every use of boot
orders visible in this patch, for easy review.

include files that are in subdirectories _and_ move.
