3b35d4542c block: Add a 'flags' param to blk_pread()
For consistency with other I/O functions, and in preparation to
implement it using generated_co_wrapper.

Callers were updated using this Coccinelle script:

    @@ expression blk, offset, buf, bytes; @@
    - blk_pread(blk, offset, buf, bytes)
    + blk_pread(blk, offset, buf, bytes, 0)

It had no effect on hw/block/nand.c, presumably due to the #if, so that
file was updated manually.

Overly-long lines were then fixed by hand.

1ab5096b3a block: get rid of blk->guest_block_size
Commit 1b7fd72955 ("block: rename buffer_alignment to
guest_block_size") noted:

  At this point, the field is set by the device emulation, but completely
  ignored by the block layer.

The last time the value of buffer_alignment/guest_block_size was
actually used was before commit 339064d506 ("block: Don't use guest
sector size for qemu_blockalign()").

This value has not been used since 2013. Get rid of it.

0e660a6f90 crypto: Introduce RSA algorithm
There are two parts in this patch:
1, support akcipher service by cryptodev-builtin driver
2, virtio-crypto driver supports akcipher service

In principle, we should separate this into two patches, to avoid
compiling error, merge them into one.

Then virtio-crypto gets request from guest side, and forwards the
request to builtin driver to handle it.

Test with a guest linux:
1, The self-test framework of crypto layer works fine in guest kernel
2, Test with Linux guest(with asym support), the following script
test(note that pkey_XXX is supported only in a newer version of keyutils):
  - both public key & private key
  - create/close session
  - encrypt/decrypt/sign/verify basic driver operation
  - also test with kernel crypto layer(pkey add/query)

All the cases work fine.

a8a506c390 hw/loongarch: Add support loongson3 virt machine type.
Emulate a 3A5000 board use the new loongarch instruction.
3A5000 belongs to the Loongson3 series processors.
The board consists of a 3A5000 cpu model and the virt
bridge. The host 3A5000 board is really complicated and
contains many functions.Now for the tcg softmmu mode
only part functions are emulated.

75bbe5e5ec replay: notify vCPU when BH is scheduled
vCPU execution should be suspended when new BH is scheduled.
This is needed to avoid guest timeouts caused by the long cycles
of the execution. In replay mode execution may hang when
vCPU sleeps and block event comes to the queue.
This patch adds notification which wakes up vCPU or interrupts
execution of guest code.

9eafdeeac3 ui: Switch "-display sdl" to use the QAPI parser
The "-display sdl" option still uses a hand-crafted parser for its
parameters since we didn't want to drag an interface we considered
somewhat flawed into the QAPI schema. Since the flaws are gone now,
it's time to QAPIfy.

This introduces the new "DisplaySDL" QAPI struct that is used to hold
the parameters that are unique to the SDL display. The only specific
parameter is currently "grab-mod" that is used to specify the required
modifier keys to escape from the mouse grabbing mode.

97ec4d21e0 machine: use QAPI struct for boot configuration
As part of converting -boot to a property with a QAPI type, define
the struct and use it throughout QEMU to access boot configuration.
machine_boot_parse takes care of doing the QemuOpts->QAPI conversion by
hand, for now.

71ad4713cc util/event-loop-base: Introduce options to set the thread pool size
The thread pool regulates itself: when idle, it kills threads until
empty, when in demand, it creates new threads until full. This behaviour
doesn't play well with latency sensitive workloads where the price of
creating a new thread is too high. For example, when paired with qemu's
'-mlock', or using safety features like SafeStack, creating a new thread
has been measured take multiple milliseconds.

In order to mitigate this let's introduce a new 'EventLoopBase'
property to set the thread pool size. The threads will be created during
the pool's initialization or upon updating the property's value, remain
available during its lifetime regardless of demand, and destroyed upon
freeing it. A properly characterized workload will then be able to
configure the pool to avoid any latency spikes.

70ac26b9e5 util/main-loop: Introduce the main loop into QOM
'event-loop-base' provides basic property handling for all 'AioContext'
based event loops. So let's define a new 'MainLoopClass' that inherits
from it. This will permit tweaking the main loop's properties through
qapi as well as through the command line using the '-object' keyword[1].
Only one instance of 'MainLoopClass' might be created at any time.

'EventLoopBaseClass' learns a new callback, 'can_be_deleted()' so as to
mark 'MainLoop' as non-deletable.

7d5983e3c8 Introduce event-loop-base abstract class
Introduce the 'event-loop-base' abstract class, it'll hold the
properties common to all event loops and provide the necessary hooks for
their creation and maintenance. Then have iothread inherit from it.

EventLoopBaseClass is defined as user creatable and provides a hook for
its children to attach themselves to the user creatable class 'complete'
function. It also provides an update_params() callback to propagate
property changes onto its children.

The new 'event-loop-base' class will live in the root directory. It is
built on its own using the 'link_whole' option (there are no direct
function dependencies between the class and its children, it all happens
trough 'constructor' magic). And also imposes new compilation
dependencies:

    qom <- event-loop-base <- blockdev (iothread.c)

And in subsequent patches:

    qom <- event-loop-base <- qemuutil (util/main-loop.c)

All this forced some amount of reordering in meson.build:

 - Moved qom build definition before qemuutil. Doing it the other way
   around (i.e. moving qemuutil after qom) isn't possible as a lot of
   core libraries that live in between the two depend on it.

 - Process the 'hw' subdir earlier, as it introduces files into the
   'qom' source set.

No functional changes intended.

f9bcb2d684 Warn user if the vga flag is passed but no vga device is created
A global boolean variable "vga_interface_created"(declared in softmmu/globals.c)
has been used to track the creation of vga interface. If the vga flag is passed
in the command line "default_vga"(declared in softmmu/vl.c) variable is set to 0.
To warn user, the condition checks if vga_interface_created is false
and default_vga is equal to 0. If "-vga none" is passed, this patch will not warn the
user regarding the creation of VGA device.

The warning "A -vga option was passed but this
machine type does not use that option; no VGA device has been created"
is logged if vga flag is passed but no vga device is created.

This patch has been tested for x86_64, i386, sparc, sparc64 and arm boards.

4168cdad39 sysemu: tpm: Add a stub function for TPM_IS_CRB
In a subsequent patch, VFIO will need to recognize if
a memory region owner is a TPM CRB device. Hence VFIO
needs to use TPM_IS_CRB() even if CONFIG_TPM is unset. So
let's add a stub function.

d7482ffe97 whpx: Added support for breakpoints and stepping
Below is the updated version of the patch adding debugging support to WHPX.
It incorporates feedback from Alex Bennée and Peter Maydell regarding not
changing the emulation logic depending on the gdb connection status.

Instead of checking for an active gdb connection to determine whether QEMU
should intercept the INT1 exceptions, it now checks whether any breakpoints
have been set, or whether gdb has explicitly requested one or more CPUs to
do single-stepping. Having none of these condition present now has the same
effect as not using gdb at all.

377bf6f37d softmmu: List CPU types again
Commit e0220bb5b2 made cpus.c target-agnostic but didn't notice
the cpu_list() function is only defined in target-specific code
in "cpu.h". Move list_cpus() declaration to "exec/cpu-common.h"
because this function is not softmmu-specific and can also be
used by user-mode, along with moving its implementation to cpu.c,
which is compiled per target.

def4c5570c kvm/msi: do explicit commit when adding msi routes
We invoke the kvm_irqchip_commit_routes() for each addition to MSI route
table, which is not efficient if we are adding lots of routes in some cases.

This patch lets callers invoke the kvm_irqchip_commit_routes(), so the
callers can decide how to optimize.

4e27e76541 sysemu/memory_mapping: Become target-agnostic
target_ulong is target-specific, while vaddr isn't.

Remove the unnecessary "exec/cpu-defs.h" target-speficic header
from "memory_mapping.h" and use the target-agnostic "hw/core/cpu.h"
locally in memory_mapping.c.

Remove "exec/memory.h" since MemoryRegion is forward-declared in
"qemu/typedefs.h".

a2c4c3b19b include/sysemu/block-backend: split header into I/O and global state (GS) API
Similarly to the previous patches, split block-backend.h
in block-backend-io.h and block-backend-global-state.h

In addition, remove "block/block.h" include as it seems
it is not necessary anymore, together with "qemu/iov.h"

block-backend-common.h contains the structures shared between
the two headers, and the functions that can't be categorized as
I/O or global state.

Assertions are added in the next patch.

f22ac4727b os-posix: Add os_set_daemonize()
The daemonizing functions in os-posix (os_daemonize() and
os_setup_post()) only daemonize the process if the static `daemonize`
variable is set.  Right now, it can only be set by os_parse_cmd_args().

In order to use os_daemonize() and os_setup_post() from the storage
daemon to have it be daemonized, we need some other way to set this
`daemonize` variable, because I would rather not tap into the system
emulator's arg-parsing code.  Therefore, this patch adds an
os_set_daemonize() function, which will return an error on os-win32
(because daemonizing is not supported there).

2f93d8b04a rtc: Move RTC function prototypes to their own header
softmmu/rtc.c defines two public functions: qemu_get_timedate() and
qemu_timedate_diff().  Currently we keep the prototypes for these in
qemu-common.h, but most files don't need them.  Move them to their
own header, a new include/sysemu/rtc.h.

Since the C files using these two functions did not need to include
qemu-common.h for any other reason, we can remove those include lines
when we add the include of the new rtc.h.

The license for the .h file follows that of the softmmu/rtc.c
where both the functions are defined.

f02b664aad hw/dma: Let dma_buf_read() / dma_buf_write() propagate MemTxResult
Since commit 292e13142d, dma_buf_rw() returns a MemTxResult type.
Do not discard it, return it to the caller. Pass the previously
returned value (the QEMUSGList residual size, which was rarely used)
as an optional argument.

With this new API, SCSIRequest::residual might now be accessed via
a pointer. Since the size_t type does not have the same size on
32 and 64-bit host architectures, convert it to a uint64_t, which
is big enough to hold the residual size, and the type is constant
on both 32/64-bit hosts.

Update the few dma_buf_read() / dma_buf_write() callers to the new
API.

95fd260f0a blockdev: Drop unused drive_get_next()
drive_get_next() is basically a bad idea.  It returns the "next" block
backend of a certain interface type.  "Next" means bus=0,unit=N, where
subsequent calls count N up from zero, per interface type.

This lets you define unit numbers implicitly by execution order.  If the
order changes, or new calls appear "in the middle", unit numbers change.
ABI break.  Hard to spot in review.

The previous commits eliminated all uses.  Drop the function.

22afb46e7c watchdog: remove select_watchdog_action
Instead of invoking select_watchdog_action from both HMP and command line,
go directly from HMP to QMP and use QemuOpts as the intermediary for the
command line.

This makes -watchdog-action explicitly a shortcut for "-action watchdog",
so that "-watchdog-action" and "-action watchdog" override each other
based on the position on the command line; previously, "-action watchdog"
always won.

7786ae40ba KVM: introduce dirty_pages and kvm_dirty_ring_enabled
dirty_pages is used to calculate dirtyrate via dirty ring, when
enabled, kvm-reaper will increase the dirty pages after gfns
being dirtied.

kvm_dirty_ring_enabled shows if kvm-reaper is working. dirtyrate
thread could use it to check if measurement can base on dirty
ring feature.

qemu_fdt_add_path() works like qemu_fdt_add_subnode(), except it
also adds all missing subnodes from the given path. We'll use it
in a coming patch where we will add cpu-map to the device tree.

- Passing to blk_co_pwritev() / blk_co_preadv() which already has
  int64_t bytes argument.

1. Convert bytes in BlkAioEmAIOCB:
  aio->bytes is only passed to already int64_t interfaces, and set in
  blk_aio_prwv, which is updated here.

2. For all updated functions the parameter type becomes wider so callers
   are safe.

3. In blk_aio_prwv we only store bytes to BlkAioEmAIOCB, which is
   updated here.

4. Other updated functions are wrappers on blk_aio_prwv.

Note that blk_aio_preadv and blk_aio_pwritev become safer: before this
commit, it's theoretically possible to pass qiov with size exceeding
INT_MAX, which than converted to int argument of blk_aio_prwv. Now it's
converted to int64_t which is a lot better. Still add assertions.

blk_check_byte_request().

Note also that we don't (and are not going to) convert blk_pwrite and
blk_pread: these functions return number of bytes on success, so to
update them, we should change return type to int64_t as well, which
will lead to investigating and updating all callers which is too much.

So, blk_pread and blk_pwrite remain unchanged.

cc07162953 block: introduce max_hw_iov for use in scsi-generic
Linux limits the size of iovecs to 1024 (UIO_MAXIOV in the kernel
sources, IOV_MAX in POSIX).  Because of this, on some host adapters
requests with many iovecs are rejected with -EINVAL by the
io_submit() or readv()/writev() system calls.

In fact, the same limit applies to SG_IO as well.  To fix both the
EINVAL and the possible performance issues from using fewer iovecs
than allowed by Linux (some HBAs have max_segments as low as 128),
introduce a separate entry in BlockLimits to hold the max_segments
value from sysfs.  This new limit is used only for SG_IO and clamped
to bs->bl.max_iov anyway, just like max_hw_transfer is clamped to
bs->bl.max_transfer.

219c101fa7 arm/hvf: Add a WFI handler
Sleep on WFI until the VTIMER is due but allow ourselves to be woken
up on IPI.

In this implementation IPI is blocked on the CPU thread at startup and
pselect() is used to atomically unblock the signal and begin sleeping.
The signal is sent unconditionally so there's no need to worry about
races between actually sleeping and the "we think we're sleeping"
state. It may lead to an extra wakeup but that's better than missing
it entirely.

62fffaa6c9 stubs: Remove unused arch_type.c stub
We added a stub for the arch_type global in commit 5964ed56d9 so
that we could compile blockdev.c into the tools.  However, in commit
9db1d3a2be we removed the only use of arch_type from blockdev.c.
The stub is therefore no longer needed, and we can delete it again,
together with the QEMU_ARCH_NONE value that only the stub was using.

cc68292e86 arch_init.h: Add QEMU_ARCH_HEXAGON
When Hexagon was added we forgot to add it to the QEMU_ARCH_*
enumeration.  This doesn't cause a visible effect because at the
moment Hexagon is linux-user only and the QEMU_ARCH_* constants are
only used in softmmu, but we might as well add it in, since it's the
only architecture currently missing from the list.

4f9205be45 monitor: Use accel_find("kvm") instead of kvm_available()
The kvm_available() function reports whether KVM support was
compiled into the QEMU binary; it returns the value of the
CONFIG_KVM define.

The only place in the codebase where we use this function is
in qmp_query_kvm(). Now that accelerators are based on QOM
classes we can instead use accel_find("kvm") and remove the
kvm_available() function.

6773fbf8c0 softmmu: Use accel_find("xen") instead of xen_available()
The xen_available() function is used only to produce an error
for some Xen-specific command line options in QEMU binaries where
Xen support was not compiled in: it just returns the value of
the CONFIG_XEN define.

Now that accelerators are QOM classes, we can check for
"does this binary have Xen compiled in" with accel_find("xen"),
and drop the xen_available() function.

1793ad0247 iothread: add aio-max-batch parameter
The `aio-max-batch` parameter will be propagated to AIO engines
and it will be used to control the maximum number of queued requests.

When there are in queue a number of requests equal to `aio-max-batch`,
the engine invokes the system call to forward the requests to the kernel.

This parameter allows us to control the maximum batch size to reduce
the latency that requests might accumulate while queued in the AIO
engine queue.

If `aio-max-batch` is equal to 0 (default value), the AIO engine will
use its default maximum batch size value.

24b36e9813 block: add max_hw_transfer to BlockLimits
For block host devices, I/O can happen through either the kernel file
descriptor I/O system calls (preadv/pwritev, io_submit, io_uring)
or the SCSI passthrough ioctl SG_IO.

In the latter case, the size of each transfer can be limited by the
HBA, while for file descriptor I/O the kernel is able to split and
merge I/O in smaller pieces as needed.  Applying the HBA limits to
file descriptor I/O results in more system calls and suboptimal
performance, so this patch splits the max_transfer limit in two:
max_transfer remains valid and is used in general, while max_hw_transfer
is limited to the maximum hardware size.  max_hw_transfer can then be
included by the scsi-generic driver in the block limits page, to ensure
that the stricter hardware limit is used.

9181fb7043 hostmem: Wire up RAM_NORESERVE via "reserve" property
Let's provide a way to control the use of RAM_NORESERVE via memory
backends using the "reserve" property which defaults to true (old
behavior).

Only Linux currently supports clearing the flag (and support is checked at
runtime, depending on the setting of "/proc/sys/vm/overcommit_memory").
Windows and other POSIX systems will bail out with "reserve=false".

The target use case is virtio-mem, which dynamically exposes memory
inside a large, sparse memory area to the VM. This essentially allows
avoiding to set "/proc/sys/vm/overcommit_memory == 0") when using
virtio-mem and also supporting hugetlbfs in the future.

As really only Linux implements RAM_NORESERVE right now, let's expose
the property only with CONFIG_LINUX. Setting the property to "false"
will then only fail in corner cases -- for example on very old kernels
or when memory overcommit was completely disabled by the admin.

cfe58455f3 hvf: Split out common code on vcpu init and destroy
Until now, Hypervisor.framework has only been available on x86_64 systems.
With Apple Silicon shipping now, it extends its reach to aarch64. To
prepare for support for multiple architectures, let's start moving common
code out into its own accel directory.

This patch splits the vcpu init and destroy functions into a generic and
an architecture specific portion. This also allows us to move the generic
functions into the generic hvf code, removing exported functions.
