Record whether the backing page is anonymous, or if it has file
backing. This will allow us to get close to the Linux AArch64
ABI for MTE, which allows tag memory only on ram-backed VMAs.
The real ABI allows tag memory on files, when those files are
on ram-backed filesystems, such as tmpfs. We will not be able
to implement that in QEMU linux-user.
Thankfully, anonymous memory for malloc arenas is the primary
consumer of this feature, so this restricted version should
still be of use.

We passed an is_write flag to the fuzz_dma_read_cb function to
differentiate between the mapped DMA regions that need to be populated
with fuzzed data, and those that don't. We simply passed through the
address_space_map is_write parameter. The goal was to cut down on
unnecessarily populating mapped DMA regions, when they are not read
from.
Unfortunately, nothing precludes code from reading from regions mapped
with is_write=true. For example, see:
https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2021-01/msg04729.html
This patch removes the is_write parameter to fuzz_dma_read_cb. As a
result, we will fill all mapped DMA regions with fuzzed data, ignoring
the specified transfer direction.

In this particular implementation the same single migration
thread is responsible for both normal linear dirty page
migration and procesing UFFD page fault events.
Processing write faults includes reading UFFD file descriptor,
finding respective RAM block and saving faulting page to
the migration stream. After page has been saved, write protection
can be removed. Since asynchronous version of qemu_put_buffer()
is expected to be used to save pages, we also have to flush
migraion stream prior to un-protecting saved memory range.
Write protection is being removed for any previously protected
memory chunk that has hit the migration stream. That's valid
for pages from linear page scan along with write fault pages.

The platform specific details of mechanisms for implementing
confidential guest support may require setup at various points during
initialization. Thus, it's not really feasible to have a single cgs
initialization hook, but instead each mechanism needs its own
initialization calls in arch or machine specific code.
However, to make it harder to have a bug where a mechanism isn't
properly initialized under some circumstances, we want to have a
common place, late in boot, where we verify that cgs has been
initialized if it was requested.
This patch introduces a ready flag to the ConfidentialGuestSupport
base type to accomplish this, which we verify in
qemu_machine_creation_done().

Several architectures have mechanisms which are designed to protect
guest memory from interference or eavesdropping by a compromised
hypervisor. AMD SEV does this with in-chip memory encryption and
Intel's TDX can do similar things. POWER's Protected Execution
Framework (PEF) accomplishes a similar goal using an ultravisor and
new memory protection features, instead of encryption.
To (partially) unify handling for these, this introduces a new
ConfidentialGuestSupport QOM base class. "Confidential" is kind of vague,
but "confidential computing" seems to be the buzzword about these schemes,
and "secure" or "protected" are often used in connection to unrelated
things (such as hypervisor-from-guest or guest-from-guest security).
The "support" in the name is significant because in at least some of the
cases it requires the guest to take specific actions in order to protect
itself from hypervisor eavesdropping.

"exec/cpu-defs.h" contains generic CPU definitions for the
TCG frontends (mostly related to TLB). TCG backends definitions
aren't relevant here.
See tcg/README description:
4) Backend
tcg-target.h contains the target specific definitions. tcg-target.c.inc
contains the target specific code; it is #included by tcg/tcg.c, rather
than being a standalone C file.
So far only "tcg/tcg.h" requires these headers.
Remove the "target-tcg.h" header dependency on TCG frontends, so we
don't have to rebuild all frontends when hacking a single backend.

There is currently no way to open(O_RDONLY) and mmap(PROT_READ) when
creating a memory region from a file. This functionality is needed since
the underlying host file may not allow writing.
Add a bool readonly argument to memory_region_init_ram_from_file() and
the APIs it calls.
Extend memory_region_init_ram_from_file() rather than introducing a
memory_region_init_rom_from_file() API so that callers can easily make a
choice between read/write and read-only at runtime without calling
different APIs.
No new RAMBlock flag is introduced for read-only because it's unclear
whether RAMBlocks need to know that they are read-only. Pass a bool
readonly argument instead.
Both of these design decisions can be changed in the future. It just
seemed like the simplest approach to me.

On ARM, the Top Byte Ignore feature means that only 56 bits of
the address are significant in the virtual address. We are
required to give the entire 64-bit address to FAR_ELx on fault,
which means that we do not "clean" the top byte early in TCG.
This new interface allows us to flush all 256 possible aliases
for a given page, currently missed by tlb_flush_page*.

Over the years, most parts of exec.c that were not specific to softmmu
have been moved to accel/tcg; what's left is mostly the low-level part
of the memory API, which includes RAMBlock and AddressSpaceDispatch.
However exec.c also hosts 4-500 lines of code for the target specific
parts of the CPU QOM object, plus a few functions for user-mode
emulation that do not have a better place (they are not TCG-specific so
accel/tcg/user-exec.c is not a good place either).
Move these parts to a new file, so that exec.c can be moved to
softmmu/physmem.c.

refactoring of cpus.c continues with cpu timer state extraction.
cpu-timers: responsible for the softmmu cpu timers state,
including cpu clocks and ticks.
icount: counts the TCG instructions executed. As such it is specific to
the TCG accelerator. Therefore, it is built only under CONFIG_TCG.
One complication is due to qtest, which uses an icount field to warp time
as part of qtest (qtest_clock_warp).
In order to solve this problem, provide a separate counter for qtest.
This requires fixing assumptions scattered in the code that
qtest_enabled() implies icount_enabled(), checking each specific case.

clang's C11 atomic_fetch_*() functions only take a C11 atomic type
pointer argument. QEMU uses direct types (int, etc) and this causes a
compiler error when a QEMU code calls these functions in a source file
that also included <stdatomic.h> via a system header file:
$ CC=clang CXX=clang++ ./configure ... && make
../util/async.c:79:17: error: address argument to atomic operation must be a pointer to _Atomic type ('unsigned int *' invalid)
Avoid using atomic_*() names in QEMU's atomic.h since that namespace is
used by <stdatomic.h>. Prefix QEMU's APIs with 'q' so that atomic.h
and <stdatomic.h> can co-exist. I checked /usr/include on my machine and
searched GitHub for existing "qatomic_" users but there seem to be none.
This patch was generated using:

Functions "print_ioctl()" and "print_syscall_ret_ioctl()" are used
to print arguments of "ioctl()" with "-strace". These functions
use "thunk_print()", which is defined in "thunk.c", to print the
contents of ioctl's third arguments that are not basic types.
However, this function doesn't handle ioctls of group ioctl_tty which
are used for terminals and serial lines. These ioctls use a type
"struct termios" which thunk type is defined in a non standard
way using "STRUCT_SPECIAL()". This means that this type is not decoded
regularly using "thunk_convert()" and uses special converting functions
"target_to_host_termios()" and "host_to_target_termios()", which are defined
in "syscall.c" to decode it's values.
For simillar reasons, this type is also not printed regularly using
"thunk_print()". That is the reason why a separate printing function
"print_termios()" is defined in file "strace.c". This function decodes
and prints flag values of the "termios" structure.
Implementation notes:
Function "print_termios()" was implemented in "strace.c" using
an existing function "print_flags()" to print flag values of
"struct termios" fields. Also, recently implemented function
"print_enums()" was also used to print enumareted values which
are contained in the fields of 'struct termios'.
These flag values were defined using an existing macro "FLAG_TARGET()"
that generates aproppriate target flag values and string representations
of these flags. Also, the recently defined macro "ENUM_TARGET()" was
used to generate aproppriate enumarated values and their respective
string representations.
Function "print_termios()" was declared in "qemu.h" so that it can
be accessed in "syscall.c". Type "StructEntry" defined in
"exec/user/thunk.h" contains information that is used to decode
structure values. Field "void print(void *arg)" was added in this
structure as a special print function. Also, function "thunk_print()"
was changed a little so that it uses this special print function
in case it is defined. This printing function was instantiated with
the defined "print_termios()" in "syscall.c" in "struct_termios_def".

This patch implements functionality for strace argument printing for ioctls.
When running ioctls through qemu with "-strace", they get printed in format:
"ioctl(fd_num,0x*,0x*) = ret_value"
where the request code an the ioctl's third argument get printed in a hexadicemal
format. This patch changes that by enabling strace to print both the request code
name and the contents of the third argument. For example, when running ioctl
RTC_SET_TIME with "-strace", with changes from this patch, it gets printed in
this way:
"ioctl(3,RTC_SET_TIME,{12,13,15,20,10,119,0,0,0}) = 0"
In case of IOC_R type ioctls, the contents of the third argument get printed
after the return value, and the argument inside the ioctl call gets printed
as pointer in hexadecimal format. For example, when running RTC_RD_TIME with
"-strace", with changes from this patch, it gets printed in this way:
"ioctl(3,RTC_RD_TIME,0x40800374) = 0 ({22,9,13,11,5,120,0,0,0})"
In case of IOC_RW type ioctls, the contents of the third argument get printed
both inside the ioctl call and after the return value.
Implementation notes:
Functions "print_ioctl()" and "print_syscall_ret_ioctl()", that are defined
in "strace.c", are listed in file "strace.list" as "call" and "result"
value for ioctl. Structure definition "IOCTLEntry" as well as predefined
values for IOC_R, IOC_W and IOC_RW were cut and pasted from file "syscall.c"
to file "qemu.h" so that they can be used by these functions to print the
contents of the third ioctl argument. Also, the "static" identifier for array
"ioctl_entries[]" was removed and this array was declared as "extern" in "qemu.h"
so that it can also be used by these functions. To decode the structure type
of the ioctl third argument, function "thunk_print()" was defined in file
"thunk.c" and its definition is somewhat simillar to that of function
"thunk_convert()".

This will be used to encode reserved IOVA regions.
For instance, in virtio-iommu use case, reserved IOVA regions
will be passed by the machine code to the virtio-iommu-pci

will match the virtio_iommu_probe_resv_mem subtype value:

- VIRTIO_IOMMU_RESV_MEM_T_MSI (1)
on PC/Q35 machine, this will be used to inform the
virtio-iommu-pci device it should bypass the MSI region.
The reserved region will be: 0xfee00000:0xfeefffff:1.

We want to replace qemu_balloon_inhibit() by something more generic.
Especially, we want to make sure that technologies that really rely on
RAM block discards to work reliably to run mutual exclusive with
technologies that effectively break it.
E.g., vfio will usually pin all guest memory, turning the virtio-balloon
basically useless and make the VM consume more memory than reported via
the balloon. While the balloon is special already (=> no guarantees, same
behavior possible afer reboots and with huge pages), this will be
different, especially, with virtio-mem.
Let's implement a way such that we can make both types of technology run
mutually exclusive. We'll convert existing balloon inhibitors in successive
patches and add some new ones. Add the check to
qemu_balloon_is_inhibited() for now. We might want to make
virtio-balloon an acutal inhibitor in the future - however, that
requires more thought to not break existing setups.

I'm not aware of any immediate bugs in qemu where a second runtime
evaluation of the arguments to MIN() or MAX() causes a problem, but
proactively preventing such abuse is easier than falling prey to an
unintended case down the road. At any rate, here's the conversation
that sparked the current patch:
https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2018-12/msg05718.html
Update the MIN/MAX macros to only evaluate their argument once at
runtime; this uses typeof(1 ? (a) : (b)) to ensure that we are
promoting the temporaries to the same type as the final comparison (we
have to trigger type promotion, as typeof(bitfield) won't compile; and
we can't use typeof((a) + (b)) or even typeof((a) + 0), as some of our
uses of MAX are on void* pointers where such addition is undefined).
However, we are unable to work around gcc refusing to compile ({}) in
a constant context (such as the array length of a static variable),
even when only used in the dead branch of a __builtin_choose_expr(),
so we have to provide a second macro pair MIN_CONST and MAX_CONST for
use when both arguments are known to be compile-time constants and
where the result must also be usable as a constant; this second form
evaluates arguments multiple times but that doesn't matter for
constants. By using a void expression as the expansion if a
non-constant is presented to this second form, we can enlist the
compiler to ensure the double evaluation is not attempted on
non-constants.
Alas, as both macros now rely on compiler intrinsics, they are no
longer usable in preprocessor #if conditions; those will just have to
be open-coded or the logic rewritten into #define or runtime 'if'
conditions (but where the compiler dead-code-elimination will probably
still apply).
I tested that both gcc 10.1.1 and clang 10.0.0 produce errors for all
forms of macro mis-use. As the errors can sometimes be cryptic, I'm
demonstrating the gcc output:

We cannot at present limit a 64-bit guest to a virtual address
space smaller than the host. It will mostly work to ignore this
limitation, except if the guest uses high bits of the address
space for tags. But it will certainly work better, as presently
we can wind up failing to allocate the guest stack.
Widen our user-only page tree to the host or abi pointer width.
Remove the workaround for this problem from target/alpha.
Always validate guest addresses vs reserved_va, as there we
control allocation ourselves.

While debugging over TCP is fairly straightforward now we have test
cases that want to orchestrate via make and currently a parallel build
fails as two processes can't use the same listening port. While system
emulation offers a wide cornucopia of connection methods thanks to the
chardev abstraction we are a little more limited for linux user.
Thankfully the programming API for a TCP socket and a local UNIX

According to the documentation in memory.h a ROM memory region will be
backed by RAM for reads, but is supposed to go through a callback for
writes. Currently we were not checking for the existence of the rom_device
flag when determining if we could perform a direct write or not.
To correct that add a check to memory_region_is_direct so that if the
memory region has the rom_device flag set we will return false for all

and also solves the issue of a seg fault while changing the logfile.
Any read access to the qemu_logfile handle will use
the rcu_read_lock()/unlock() around the use of the handle.
To fetch the handle we will use atomic_rcu_read().
We also in many cases do a check for validity of the
logfile handle before using it to deal with the case where the
file is closed and set to NULL.
The cases where we write to the qemu_logfile will use atomic_rcu_set().
Writers will also use call_rcu() with a newly added qemu_logfile_free

We first inject empty instrumentation from translator_loop.
After translation, we go through the plugins to see what
they want to register for, filling in the empty instrumentation.
If if turns out that some instrumentation remains unused, we
remove it.
This approach supports the following features:
- Inlining TCG code for simple operations. Note that we do not
export TCG ops to plugins. Instead, we give them a C API to
insert inlined ops. So far we only support adding an immediate
to a u64, e.g. to count events.
- "Direct" callbacks. These are callbacks that do not go via
a helper. Instead, the helper is defined at run-time, so that
the plugin code is directly called from TCG. This makes direct
callbacks as efficient as possible; they are therefore used
for very frequent events, e.g. memory callbacks.
- Passing the host address to memory callbacks. Most of this
is implemented in a later patch though.
- Instrumentation of memory accesses performed from helpers.
See the corresponding comment, as well as a later patch.

MVCL is interruptible and we should check for interrupts and process
them after writing back the variables to the registers. Let's check
for any exit requests and exit to the main loop. Introduce a new helper
function for that: cpu_loop_exit_requested().
When booting Fedora 30, I can see a handful of these exits and it seems
to work reliable. Also, Richard explained why this works correctly even
when MVCL is called via EXECUTE:
(1) TB with EXECUTE runs, at address Ae
- env->psw_addr stored with Ae.
- helper_ex() runs, memory address Am computed
from D2a(X2a,B2a) or from psw.addr+RI2.
- env->ex_value stored with memory value modified by R1a
(2) TB of executee runs,
- env->ex_value stored with 0.
- helper_mvcl() runs, using and updating R1b, R1b+1, R2b, R2b+1.
(3a) helper_mvcl() completes,
- TB of executee continues, psw.addr += ilen.
- Next instruction is the one following EXECUTE.
(3b) helper_mvcl() exits to main loop,
- cpu_loop_exit_restore() unwinds psw.addr = Ae.
- Next instruction is the EXECUTE itself...
- goto 1.
As the PoP mentiones that an interruptible instruction called via EXECUTE
should avoid modifying storage/registers that are used by EXECUTE itself,
it is fine to retrigger EXECUTE.

Currently, when a notifier is attempted to be registered and its

we generally abruptly exit in the IOMMU code. The failure could be
handled more nicely in the caller and especially in the VFIO code.
So let's allow memory_region_register_iommu_notifier() to fail as

All sites implementing the callback are updated. This patch does

for the rcu lock, which means that they wait until the end

As a consequence, there is no need for the actual access

we can improve things by merging the two functions into

Most of IO instructions can be executed only at the end of the block in
icount mode. Therefore translator can set cpu_can_io flag when translating
the last instruction.
But when the blocks are chained, then this flag is not reset and may
remain set at the beginning of the next block.
This patch resets the flag at the entry of any translation block,
making I/O operations impossible by default.

There is a race between TCG and accesses to the dirty log:
vCPU thread reader thread
----------------------- -----------------------
TLB check -> slow path
notdirty_mem_write
write to RAM
set dirty flag
clear dirty flag
TLB check -> fast path
read memory
write to RAM
Fortunately, in order to fix it, no change is required to the
vCPU thread. However, the reader thread must delay the read after
the vCPU thread has finished the write. This can be approximated
conservatively by run_on_cpu, which waits for the end of the current
translation block.
A similar technique is used by KVM, which has to do a synchronous TLB
flush after doing a test-and-clear of the dirty-page flags.

TYPE_IOMMU_MEMORY_REGION is a direct subtype of TYPE_MEMORY_REGION.
Its instance struct is IOMMUMemoryRegion, and its first member is a
MemoryRegion. Correct. Its class struct is IOMMUMemoryRegionClass,
and its first member is a DeviceClass. Wrong. Messed up when commit
1221a47467 introduced the QOM type. It even included hw/qdev-core.h
just for that.
TYPE_MEMORY_REGION doesn't bother to define a class struct. This is
fine, it simply defaults to its super-type TYPE_OBJECT's class struct
ObjectClass. Changing IOMMUMemoryRegionClass's first member's type to
ObjectClass would be a minimal fix, if a bit brittle: if
TYPE_MEMORY_REGION ever acquired own class struct, we'd have to update
IOMMUMemoryRegionClass to use it.
Fix it the clean and robust way instead: give TYPE_MEMORY_REGION its
own class struct MemoryRegionClass now, and use it for
IOMMUMemoryRegionClass's first member.
Revert the include of hw/qdev-core.h, and fix the few files that have
come to rely on it.

Back in 2016, we discussed[1] rules for headers, and these were
generally liked:
1. Have a carefully curated header that's included everywhere first. We
got that already thanks to Peter: osdep.h.
2. Headers should normally include everything they need beyond osdep.h.
If exceptions are needed for some reason, they must be documented in
the header. If all that's needed from a header is typedefs, put
those into qemu/typedefs.h instead of including the header.
3. Cyclic inclusion is forbidden.
This patch gets include/ closer to obeying 2.
It's actually extracted from my "[RFC] Baby steps towards saner
headers" series[2], which demonstrates a possible path towards
checking 2 automatically. It passes the RFC test there.

Currently we are doing log_clear() right after log_sync() which mostly
keeps the old behavior when log_clear() was still part of log_sync().
This patch tries to further optimize the migration log_clear() code
path to split huge log_clear()s into smaller chunks.
We do this by spliting the whole guest memory region into memory
chunks, whose size is decided by MigrationState.clear_bitmap_shift (an
example will be given below). With that, we don't do the dirty bitmap
clear operation on the remote node (e.g., KVM) when we fetch the dirty
bitmap, instead we explicitly clear the dirty bitmap for the memory
chunk for each of the first time we send a page in that chunk.
Here comes an example.
Assuming the guest has 64G memory, then before this patch the KVM
ioctl KVM_CLEAR_DIRTY_LOG will be a single one covering 64G memory.
If after the patch, let's assume when the clear bitmap shift is 18,
then the memory chunk size on x86_64 will be 1UL<<18 * 4K = 1GB. Then
instead of sending a big 64G ioctl, we'll send 64 small ioctls, each
of the ioctl will cover 1G of the guest memory. For each of the 64
small ioctls, we'll only send if any of the page in that small chunk
was going to be sent right away.

Introduce a new memory region listener hook log_clear() to allow the
listeners to hook onto the points where the dirty bitmap is cleared by
the bitmap users.
Previously log_sync() contains two operations:
- dirty bitmap collection, and,
- dirty bitmap clear on remote site.
Let's take KVM as example - log_sync() for KVM will first copy the
kernel dirty bitmap to userspace, and at the same time we'll clear the
dirty bitmap there along with re-protecting all the guest pages again.
We add this new log_clear() interface only to split the old log_sync()
into two separated procedures:
- use log_sync() to collect the collection only, and,
- use log_clear() to clear the remote dirty bitmap.
With the new interface, the memory listener users will still be able
to decide how to implement the log synchronization procedure, e.g.,
they can still only provide log_sync() method only and put all the two
procedures within log_sync() (that's how the old KVM works before
KVM_CAP_MANUAL_DIRTY_LOG_PROTECT2 is introduced). However with this
new interface the memory listener users will start to have a chance to
postpone the log clear operation explicitly if the module supports.
That can really benefit users like KVM at least for host kernels that
support KVM_CAP_MANUAL_DIRTY_LOG_PROTECT2.
There are three places that can clear dirty bits in any one of the
dirty bitmap in the ram_list.dirty_memory[3] array:
cpu_physical_memory_snapshot_and_clear_dirty
cpu_physical_memory_test_and_clear_dirty
cpu_physical_memory_sync_dirty_bitmap
Currently we hook directly into each of the functions to notify about
the log_clear().

Most of the existing users would continue around a loop which
would fault the tlb entry in via a normal load/store.
But for AArch64 SVE we have an existing emulation bug wherein we
would mark the first element of a no-fault vector load as faulted
(within the FFR, not via exception) just because we did not have
its address in the TLB. Now we can properly only mark it as faulted
if there really is no valid, readable translation, while still not
raising an exception. (Note that beyond the first element of the
vector, the hardware may report a fault for any reason whatsoever;
with at least one element loaded, forward progress is guaranteed.)

CPUClass method dump_statistics() takes an fprintf()-like callback and
a FILE * to pass to it. Most callers pass fprintf() and stderr.
log_cpu_state() passes fprintf() and qemu_log_file.
hmp_info_registers() passes monitor_fprintf() and the current monitor
cast to FILE *. monitor_fprintf() casts it right back, and is
otherwise identical to monitor_printf().
The callback gets passed around a lot, which is tiresome. The
type-punning around monitor_fprintf() is ugly.
Drop the callback, and call qemu_fprintf() instead. Also gets rid of
the type-punning, since qemu_fprintf() takes NULL instead of the

bsd-user/main.c's main(), linux-user/main.c's main()) all pass
fprintf() and stdout. Thus, the flexibility provided by the (rather

Currently, qemu_ram_foreach_* calls RAMBlockIterFunc with many
block-specific arguments. But often iter func needs RAMBlock*.
This refactoring is needed for fast access to RAMBlock flags from
qemu_ram_foreach_block's callback. The only way to achieve this now
is to call qemu_ram_block_from_host (which also enumerates blocks).
So, this patch reduces complexity of
qemu_ram_foreach_block() -> cb() -> qemu_ram_block_from_host()
from O(n^2) to O(n).
Fix RAMBlockIterFunc definition and add some functions to read
RAMBlock* fields witch were passed.

Especially when dealing with out-of-line gvec helpers, it is often
helpful to specify some vector pointers as constant. E.g. when
we have two inputs and one output, marking the two inputs as consts
pointers helps to avoid bugs.
Const pointers can be specified via "cptr", however behave in TCG just
like ordinary pointers. We can specify helpers like:
DEF_HELPER_FLAGS_4(gvec_vbperm, TCG_CALL_NO_RWG, void, ptr, cptr, cptr, i32)
void HELPER(gvec_vbperm)(void *v1, const void *v2, const void *v3,
uint32_t desc)
And make sure that here, only v1 will be written (as long as const is
not casted away, of course).

In commit f7b78602fd we added the CPU cluster number to the
cflags field of the TB hash; this included adding it to the value
kept in tb->cflags, since we pass that field directly into the hash
calculation in some places. Unfortunately we forgot to check whether
other parts of the code were doing comparisons against tb->cflags
that would need to be updated.
It turns out that there is exactly one such place: the
tb_lookup__cpu_state() function checks whether the TB it has
found in the tb_jmp_cache has a tb->cflags matching the cf_mask
that is passed in. The tb->cflags has the cluster_index in it
but the cf_mask does not.
Hoist the "add cluster index to the cf_mask" code up from
tb_htable_lookup() to tb_lookup__cpu_state() so it can be considered
in the "did this TB match in the jmp cache" condition, as well as
when we do the full hash lookup by physical PC, flags, etc.
(tb_htable_lookup() is only called from tb_lookup__cpu_state(),
so this change doesn't require any further knock-on changes.)

Include the cluster number in the hash we use to look
up TBs. This is important because a TB that is valid
for one cluster at a given physical address and set
of CPU flags is not necessarily valid for another:
the two clusters may have different views of physical
memory, or may have different CPU features (eg FPU
present or absent).
We put the cluster number in the high 8 bits of the
TB cflags. This gives us up to 256 clusters, which should
be enough for anybody. If we ever need more, or need
more bits in cflags for other purposes, we could make
tb_hash_func() take more data (and expand qemu_xxhash7()
to qemu_xxhash8()).

name is given just in case one is going to use QTAILQ_LAST, QTAILQ_PREV

and even for QTAILQ in practice this is only rarely needed. In addition,
we will soon reimplement those macros completely so that they do not
need a name for the head struct. So clean up everything, not giving a

The API of cpu_physical_memory_write_rom() is odd, because it
takes an AddressSpace, unlike all the other cpu_physical_memory_*
access functions. Rename it to address_space_write_rom(), and
bring its API into line with address_space_write().

Add a new flag to mark memory region that are used as non-volatile, by
NVDIMM for example. That bit is propagated down to the flat view, and
reflected in HMP info mtree with a "nv-" prefix on the memory type.
This way, guest_phys_blocks_region_add() can skip the NV memory
regions for dumps and TCG memory clear in a following patch.

Especially for guests with large numbers of tlbs, like ARM or PPC,
we may well not use all of them in between flush operations.
Remember which tlbs have been used since the last flush, and
avoid any useless flushing.

Our only statistic so far was "full" tlb flushes, where all mmu_idx
are flushed at the same time.
Now count "partial" tlb flushes where sets of mmu_idx are flushed,
but the set is not maximal. Account one per mmu_idx flushed, as
that is the unit of work performed.
We don't actually count elided flushes yet, but go ahead and change
the interface presented to the monitor all at once.

The set of large pages in the kernel is probably not the same
as the set of large pages in the application. Forcing one
range to cover both will flush more often than necessary.
This allows tlb_flush_page_async_work to flush just the one
mmu_idx implicated, which in turn allows us to remove
tlb_check_page_and_flush_by_mmuidx_async_work.

Protect it with the tlb_lock instead of using atomics.
The move puts it in or near the same cacheline as the lock;
using the lock means we don't need a second atomic operation
in order to perform the update. Which makes it cheap to also
update pending_flush in tlb_flush_by_mmuidx_async_work.
