d3c49ebbe2 xen-hvm: try to use xenforeignmemory_map_resource() to map ioreq pages
Xen 4.11 has a new API to directly map guest resources. Among the resources
that can be mapped using this API are ioreq pages.

This patch modifies QEMU to attempt to use the new API should it exist,
falling back to the previous mechanism if it is unavailable.

5c0d914a9b xen: add a meaningful declaration of grant_copy_segment into xen_common.h
Currently the xen_disk source has to carry #ifdef exclusions to compile
against Xen older then 4.8. This is a bit messy so this patch lifts the
definition of struct xengnttab_grant_copy_segment and adds it into the
pre-4.8 compat area in xen_common.h, which allows xen_disk to be cleaned
up.

2cbf890353 xen: Use newly added dmops for mapping VGA memory
Xen unstable (to be in 4.11) has two new dmops, relocate_memory and
pin_memory_cacheattr. Use these to set up the VGA memory, replacing the
previous calls to libxc. This allows the VGA console to work properly
when QEMU is running restricted (-xen-domid-restrict).

Wrapper functions are provided to allow QEMU to work with older versions
of Xen.

Tweak the error handling while making this change:
* Report pin_memory_cacheattr errors.
* Report errors even when DEBUG_HVM is not set. This is useful for
trying to understand why VGA is not working, since otherwise it just
fails silently.
* Fix the return values when an error occurs. The functions now
consistently return -1 and set errno.

85f3c64da3 xen: move xc_interface compatibility fallback further up the file
We are going to want to use the dummy xendevicemodel_handle type in
new stub functions in the CONFIG_XEN_CTRL_INTERFACE_VERSION < 41000
section. So we need to provide that definition, or (as applicable)
include the appropriate header, earlier in the file.

(Ideally the newer compatibility layers would be at the bottom of the
file, so that they can naturally benefit from the compatibility layers
for earlier version. But that's rather too much for this series.)

No functional change.

0ef4d87da5 xen: restrict: use xentoolcore_restrict_all
And insist that it works.

Drop individual use of xendevicemodel_restrict and
xenforeignmemory_restrict. These are not actually effective in this
version of qemu, because qemu has a large number of fds open onto
various Xen control devices.

The restriction arrangements are still not right, because the

14d015b6fc xen: additionally restrict xenforeignmemory operations
Commit f0f272baf3a7 "xen: use libxendevice model to restrict operations"
added a command-line option (-xen-domid-restrict) to limit operations
using the libxendevicemodel API to a specified domid. The commit also
noted that the restriction would be extended to cover operations issued
via other xen libraries by subsequent patches.

My recent Xen patch [1] added a call to the xenforeignmemory API to allow
it to be restricted. This patch now makes use of that new call when the
-xen-domid-restrict option is passed.

Before grant copy operation local buffers must be allocated what is

For the 'write' operation grant copy is performed before invoking

b7665c6027 xen: handle inbound migration of VMs without ioreq server pages
VMs created on older versions on Xen will not have been provisioned with

the ioreq server API is not supported and QEMU's only option is to fall

This patch therefore changes the code in xen_common.h to stop considering
a failure of xc_hvm_create_ioreq_server() as a hard failure but simply
as an indication that the guest is too old to support the ioreq server
API. Instead a boolean is set to cause reversion to old behaviour such
that the default ioreq server is then used.

edfb07ed22 xen: drop support for Xen 4.1 and older.
Xen 4.2 become unsupported upstream in 09/2015 (see
http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Xen_Release_Features). However as far as the
interfaces provided by the toolstack libraries go 4.2 and 4.3 are
indistinguishable.

Therefore drop support for Xen 4.1 and earlier which removes a whole
pile of compatibility code which makes future work (to use stable
library interfaces provided by upstream) more difficult. In particular
all supported versions now use a pointer as a libxc handle (4.1 and
earlier used an integer, resulting in various shim layers).

Also Xen 4.2 was the first version of Xen to formally support upstream
QEMU (as a preview) so that makes sense as a cut-off now.

This change drops all the configure-y and resulting ifdefs in a mostly
mechanical way. A follow up will refactor wrappers which are now
unused.

So all which remains is to update configure to detect the libraries
and enable their use. Although they are notionally independent we take
an all or nothing approach to the three libraries since they were
added at the same time.

The only non-obvious bit is that we now open a proper xenforeignmemory

e0cb42ae4b xen: Switch uses of xc_map_foreign_{pages,bulk} to use libxenforeignmemory API.
In Xen 4.7 we are refactoring parts libxenctrl into a number of
separate libraries which will provide backward and forward API and ABI
compatiblity.

One such library will be libxenforeignmemory which provides access to
privileged foreign mappings and which will provide an interface
equivalent to xc_map_foreign_{pages,bulk}.

The new xenforeignmemory_map() function behaves like
xc_map_foreign_pages() when the err argument is NULL and like
xc_map_foreign_bulk() when err is non-NULL, which maps into the shim
here onto checking err == NULL and calling the appropriate old
function.

Note that xenforeignmemory_map() takes the number of pages before the
arrays themselves, in order to support potentially future use of
variable-length-arrays in the prototype (in the future, when Xen's
baseline toolchain requirements are new enough to ensure VLAs are
supported).

In preparation for adding support for libxenforeignmemory add support
to the <=4.0 and <=4.6 compat code in xen_common.h to allow us to
switch to using the new API. These shims will disappear for versions
of Xen which include libxenforeignmemory.

Since libxenforeignmemory will have its own handle type but for <= 4.6
the functionality is provided by using a libxenctrl handle we
introduce a new global xen_fmem alongside the existing xen_xc. In fact
we make xen_fmem a pointer to the existing xen_xc, which then works
correctly with both <=4.0 (xc handle is an int) and <=4.6 (xc handle
is a pointer). In the latter case xen_fmem is actually a double
indirect pointer, but it all falls out in the wash.

Unlike libxenctrl libxenforeignmemory has an explicit unmap function,
rather than just specifying that munmap should be used, so the unmap
paths are updated to use xenforeignmemory_unmap, which is a shim for
munmap on these versions of xen. The mappings in xen-hvm.c do not
appear to be unmapped (which makes sense for a qemu-dm process)

In fb_disconnect this results in a change from simply mmap over the
existing mapping (with an implicit munmap) to expliclty unmapping with
xenforeignmemory_unmap and then mapping the required anonymous memory
in the same hole. I don't think this is a problem since any other
thread which was racily touching this region would already be running
the risk of hitting the mapping halfway through the call. If this is
thought to be a problem then we could consider adding an extra API to
the libxenforeignmemory interface to replace a foreign mapping with
anonymous shared memory, but I'd prefer not to.

Note that xc_evtchn_alloc_unbound functionality remains in libxenctrl,
since that functionality is not exposed by /dev/xen/evtchn.

cdadde39a8 xen: fix usage of xc_domain_create in domain builder
Due to the addition of HVMlite and the requirement to always provide a
valid xc_domain_configuration_t, xc_domain_create now always takes an arch
domain config, which can be NULL in order to mimic previous behaviour.

Add a small stub called xen_domain_create that encapsulates the correct
call to xc_domain_create depending on the libxc version detected.

20a544c7dc xen: use errno instead of rc for xc_domain_add_to_physmap
In Xen 4.6 commit cd2f100f0f61b3f333d52d1737dd73f02daee592
"libxc: Fix do_memory_op to return negative value on errors"
made the libxc API less odd-ball: On errors, return value is
-1 and error code is in errno. On success the return value
is either 0 or an positive value.

Since we could be running with an old toolstack in which the
Exx value is in rc or the newer, we add an wrapper around
the xc_domain_add_to_physmap (called xen_xc_domain_add_to_physmap)
which will always return the EXX.

Xen 4.6 did not change the libxc functions mentioned (same parameters)
so we piggyback on the fact that Xen 4.6 has a new function:
commit 504ed2053362381ac01b98db9313454488b7db40 "tools/libxc: Expose
new hypercall xc_reserved_device_memory_map" and check for that.

d8b441a3fb xen/HVM: atomically access pointers in bufioreq handling
The number of slots per page being 511 (i.e. not a power of two) means
that the (32-bit) read and write indexes going beyond 2^32 will likely
disturb operation. The hypervisor side gets I/O req server creation
extended so we can indicate that we're using suitable atomic accesses
where needed, allowing it to atomically canonicalize both pointers when
both have gone through at least one cycle.

The Xen side counterpart (which is not a functional prereq to this
change, albeit a build one) went in already (commit b7007bc6f9).

d01a5a3fe1 fix QEMU build on Xen/ARM
xen_get_vmport_regs_pfn should take a xen_pfn_t argument, not an
unsigned long argument (in fact xen_pfn_t is defined as uint64_t on
ARM).

Also use xc_hvm_param_get instead of the deprecated xc_get_hvm_param.

3996e85c18 Xen: Use the ioreq-server API when available
The ioreq-server API added to Xen 4.5 offers better security than
the existing Xen/QEMU interface because the shared pages that are
used to pass emulation request/results back and forth are removed
from the guest's memory space before any requests are serviced.
This prevents the guest from mapping these pages (they are in a
well known location) and attempting to attack QEMU by synthesizing
its own request structures. Hence, this patch modifies configure
to detect whether the API is available, and adds the necessary
code to use the API if it is.

37f9e258b6 xen-hvm.c: Add support for Xen access to vmport
This adds synchronisation of the 6 vcpu registers (only 32bits of
them) that vmport.c needs between Xen and QEMU.

This is to avoid a 2nd and 3rd exchange between QEMU and Xen to
fetch and put these 6 vcpu registers used by the code in vmport.c
and vmmouse.c

The registers are passed in the new shared page provided by
HVM_PARAM_VMPORT_REGS_PFN.

Add new array to XenIOState that allows selection of current_cpu by
vcpu id.

Now pass XenIOState to handle_ioreq().

Add new routines regs_to_cpu(), regs_from_cpu(), and
handle_vmport_ioreq().

f31352041b xen_disk: add discard support
Implement discard support for xen_disk. It makes use of the existing
discard code in qemu.

The discard support is enabled unconditionally. The tool stack may
provide a property "discard-enable" in the backend node to optionally
disable discard support. This is helpful in case the backing file was
intentionally created non-sparse to avoid fragmentation.

Many of these should be cleaned up with proper qdev-/QOM-ification.

on cpu.h, and this makes it necessary to compile these files per-target.
However, fixing this does not belong in these patches.
