830d70db69 vhost-user: add multi queue support
Based on patch by Nikolay Nikolaev:
Vhost-user will implement the multi queue support in a similar way
to what vhost already has - a separate thread for each queue.
To enable the multi queue functionality - a new command line parameter
"queues" is introduced for the vhost-user netdev.

b771f470f3 kbd: add brazil kbd keys to qemu
The brazilian computer keyboard layout has two extra keys (compared to
the usual 105-key intl ps/2 keyboard). This patch makes these two keys
known to qemu.

For historic reasons qemu has two ways to specify a key: A QKeyCode
(name-based) or a number (ps/2 scancode based). Therefore we have to
update multiple places to make new keys known to qemu:

  (1) The QKeyCode definition in qapi-schema.json
  (2) The QKeyCode <-> number mapping table in ui/input-keymap.c

This patch does just that. With this patch applied you can send those
two keys to the guest using the send-key monitor command.

9fa02cd194 qapi: Drop inline nested structs in query-pci
A future patch will be using a 'name':{dictionary} entry in the
QAPI schema to specify a default value for an optional argument
(see previous commit message for more details why); but existing
use of inline nested structs conflicts with that goal. This patch
fixes one of only two commands relying on nested types, by
breaking the nesting into an explicit type; it means that the
type is now boxed instead of unboxed in C code, but the QMP wire
format is unaffected by this change.

Prefer the safer g_new0() while making the conversion, and reduce
some long lines.

895a2a80e0 qapi: Use 'struct' instead of 'type' in schema
Referring to "type" as both a meta-type (built-in, enum, union,
alternate, or struct) and a specific type (the name that the
schema uses for declaring structs) is confusing. Do the bulk of
the conversion to "struct" in qapi schema, with a fairly
mechanical:

for f in `find -name '*.json'; do sed -i "s/'type'/'struct'/"; done

followed by manually filtering out the places where we have a
'type' embedded in 'data'. Then tweak a couple of tests whose
output changes slightly due to longer lines.

I also verified that the generated files for QMP and QGA (such
as qmp-commands.h) are the same before and after, as assurance
that I didn't leave in any accidental member name changes.

d708cdbe87 qapi: Unify type bypass and add tests
For a few QMP commands, we are forced to pass an arbitrary type
without tracking it properly in QAPI. Among the existing clients,
this unnamed type was spelled 'dict', 'visitor', and '**'; this
patch standardizes on '**', matching the documentation changes
earlier in the series.

Meanwhile, for the 'gen' key, we have been ignoring the value,
although the schema consistently used "'no'" ('success-response'
was hard-coded to checking for 'no'). But now that we can support
a literal "false" in the schema, we might as well use that rather
than ignoring the value or special-casing a random string. Note
that these are one-way switches (use of 'gen':true is not the same
as omitting 'gen'). Also, the use of '**' requires 'gen':false,
but the use of 'gen':false does not mandate the use of '**'.

There is no difference to the generated code. Add some tests on
what we'd like to guarantee, although it will take later patches
to clean up test results and actually enforce the use of a bool
parameter.

51fc44768a QMP/input-send-event: make console parameter optional
The 'QemuConsole' is the input source for handler, we share some
input handlers to process the input events from different QemuConsole.

Normally we only have one set of keyboard, mouse, usbtablet, etc.
The devices have different mask, it's fine to just checking mask to
insure that the handler has the ability to process the event.

I saw we try to bind console to handler in usb/dev-hid.c, but display
always isn't available at that time.

If we have multiseat setup (as Gerd said), we only have 'problem' in
this case. Actually event from different devices have the same effect
for system, it's fine to always use the first available handler
without caring about the console.

For send-key command, we just pass a NULL for console parameter in
calling qemu_input_event_send_key(NULL, ..), but 'input-send-event'
needs to care more devices.

Conclusion:
Generally assigning the special console is meanless, and we can't
directly remove the QMP parameter for compatibility.

So we can make the parameter optional. The parameter might be useful
for some special condition: we have multiple devices without binding
console and they all have the ability(mask) to process events, and
we don't want to use the first one.

9cb805fd26 cpus: Define callback for QEMU "nmi" command
This introduces an NMI (Non Maskable Interrupt) interface with
a single nmi_monitor_handler() method. A machine or a device can
implement it. This searches for an QOM object with this interface
and if it is implemented, calls it. The callback implements an action
required to cause debug crash dump on in-kernel debugger invocation.
The callback returns Error**.

This adds a nmi_monitor_handle() helper which walks through
all objects to find the interface. The interface method is called
for all found instances.

This adds support for it in qmp_inject_nmi(). Since no architecture
supports it at the moment, there is no change in behaviour.

This changes inject-nmi command description for HMP and QMP.

From: Paolo Bonzini <pbonzini@redhat.com>

chr-testdev enables a virtio serial channel to be used for guest
initiated qemu exits. hw/misc/debugexit already enables guest
initiated qemu exits, but only for PC targets. chr-testdev supports
any virtio-capable target. kvm-unit-tests/arm is already making use
of this backend.

Currently there is a single command implemented, "q". It takes a
(prefix) argument for the exit code, thus an exit is implemented by
writing, e.g. "1q", to the virtio-serial port.

It can be used as:
   $QEMU ... \
     -device virtio-serial-device \
     -device virtserialport,chardev=ctd -chardev testdev,id=ctd

or, use:
   $QEMU ... \
     -device virtio-serial-device \
     -device virtconsole,chardev=ctd -chardev testdev,id=ctd

to bind it to virtio-serial port0.

32a97ea171 char: report frontend open/closed state in 'query-chardev'
In addition to the on-line reporting added in the previous patch, allow
libvirt to query frontend state independently of events.

Libvirt's path to identify the guest agent channel it cares about differs
between the event added in the previous patch and the QMP response field
added here. The event identifies the frontend device, by "id". The
'query-chardev' QMP command identifies the backend device (again by "id").
The association is under libvirt's control.

f7bc8ef809 virtio-net: add vlan receive state to RxFilterInfo
Stefan Fritsch just fixed a virtio-net driver bug [1], virtio-net won't

This patch added a new field to @RxFilterInfo to indicate vlan receive
state ('normal', 'none', 'all'). If VIRTIO_NET_F_CTRL_VLAN isn't
negotiated, vlan receive state will be 'all', then all VLAN-tagged packets
will be received by guest.

This patch also fixed a boundary issue in visiting vlan table.

b53ccc30c4 dump: make kdump-compressed format available for 'dump-guest-memory'
Make monitor command 'dump-guest-memory' be able to dump in kdump-compressed
format. The command's usage:

dump [-p] protocol [begin] [length] [format]

'format' is used to specified the format of vmcore and can be:
1. 'elf': ELF format, without compression
2. 'kdump-zlib': kdump-compressed format, with zlib-compressed
3. 'kdump-lzo': kdump-compressed format, with lzo-compressed
4. 'kdump-snappy': kdump-compressed format, with snappy-compressed
Without 'format' being set, it is same as 'elf'. And if non-elf format is
specified, paging and filter is not allowed.

Note:
  1. The kdump-compressed format is readable only with the crash utility and
makedumpfile, and it can be smaller than the ELF format because of the
     compression support.
  2. The kdump-compressed format is the 6th edition.

6542aa9c75 block: add native support for NFS
This patch adds native support for accessing images on NFS
shares without the requirement to actually mount the entire
NFS share on the host.

NFS Images can simply be specified by an url of the form:
nfs://<host>/<export>/<filename>[?param=value[&param2=value2[&...]]]

For example:
qemu-img create -f qcow2 nfs://10.0.0.1/qemu-images/test.qcow2

You need LibNFS from Ronnie Sahlberg available at:
   git://github.com/sahlberg/libnfs.git
for this to work.

During configure it is automatically probed for libnfs and support
is enabled on-the-fly. You can forbid or enforce libnfs support
with --disable-libnfs or --enable-libnfs respectively.

Due to NFS restrictions you might need to execute your binaries
as root, allow them to open priviledged ports (<1024) or specify
insecure option on the NFS server.

For additional information on ROOT vs. non-ROOT operation and URL
format + parameters see:
   https://raw.github.com/sahlberg/libnfs/master/README

Supported by qemu are the uid, gid and tcp-syncnt URL parameters.

LibNFS currently support NFS version 3 only.

This updates the documentation for commiting snapshot images.
Specifically, this highlights what happens when the base image
is either smaller or larger than the snapshot image being committed.

In the case of the base image being smaller, it is resized to the

being larger, it is not resized automatically, but once the commit

12d3ba821d qmp: Allow to change password on named block driver states.
Signed-off-by: Benoit Canet <benoit@irqsave.net>
Reviewed-by: Fam Zheng <famz@redhat.com>

There was two candidate ways to implement named node manipulation:

1)
{ 'command': 'block_passwd', 'data': {'*device': 'str',
                                      '*node-name': 'str', 'password': 'str'}
}

2)

{ 'command': 'block_passwd', 'data': {'device': 'str',
                                      '*device-is-node': 'bool',
                                      'password': 'str'} }

Luiz proposed 1 and says 2 was an abuse of the QMP interface and proposed to
rewrite the QMP block interface for 2.0.

Luiz does not like in 1 the fact that 2 fields are optional but one of them must
be specified leading to an abuse of the QMP semantic.

Kevin argumented that 2 what a clear abuse of the device field and would not be
practical when reading fast some log file because the user would read "device"
and think that a device is manipulated when it's in fact a node name.
Documentation of 1 make it pretty clear what to do for the user.

Kevin argued that all bs are node including devices ones so 2 does not make
sense.

Kevin also argued that rewriting the QMP block interface would not make disapear
the current one.

Kevin pushed the argument that making the QAPI generator compatible with the
semantic of the operation would need a rewrite that no one has done yet.

A vote has been done on the list to elect the version to use and 1 won.

58952137b0 net: Adding netmap network backend
This patch adds support for a network backend based on netmap.
netmap is a framework for high speed packet I/O. You can use it
to build extremely fast traffic generators, monitors, software
switches or network middleboxes. Its companion software switch
VALE lets you interconnect virtual machines.
netmap and VALE are implemented as a non-intrusive kernel module,
support NICs from multiple vendors, are part of standard FreeBSD
distributions and available in source format for Linux too.

To compile QEMU with netmap support, use the following configure
options:
    ./configure [...] --enable-netmap --extra-cflags=-I/path/to/netmap/sys
where "/path/to/netmap" contains the netmap source code, available at
