933ab073be hw/isa/piix4: Resolve redundant i8259[] attribute
This is a follow-up on patch "malta: Move PCI interrupt handling from
gt64xxx_pci to piix4" where i8259[] was moved from MaltaState to
PIIX4State to make the code movement more obvious. However, i8259[]
seems redundant to *isa, so remove it.

9405d87be2 hw/ide: Fix crash when plugging a piix3-ide device into the x-remote machine
QEMU currently crashes when the user tries to do something like:

 qemu-system-x86_64 -M x-remote -device piix3-ide

This happens because the "isabus" variable is not initialized with
the x-remote machine yet. Add a proper check for this condition
and propagate the error to the caller, so we can fail there gracefully.

72ea60e411 hw/block/fdc: Extract ISA floppy controllers to fdc-isa.c
Some machines use floppy controllers via the SysBus interface,
and don't need to pull in all the ISA code.
Extract the ISA specific code to a new unit: fdc-isa.c, and
add a new Kconfig symbol: "FDC_ISA".
This allows us to remove the FIXME from commit dd0ff8191a

When adding the Reset register in commit 5790b757cf we

While it is possible a VM using the PIIX4 is migrated just
after requesting a system shutdown, it is very unlikely.
However when restoring a migrated VM, we might have the
RCR bit #4 set on the stack and when the VM resume it
directly shutdowns.

Add a post_load() migration handler and set the default

6be8cf56bc acpi/core: always set SCI_EN when SMM isn't supported
If SMM is not supported, ACPI fixed hardware doesn't support

The bit tells OS legacy mode(SCI_EN cleared) or ACPI mode(SCI_EN set).

With the next patch (setting fadt.smi_cmd = 0 when smm isn't enabled),
guest Linux tries to switch to ACPI mode, finds smi_cmd = 0, and then
fails to initialize acpi subsystem. This patch proactively fixes it.

This patch changes guest ABI. To keep compatibility, use

3ab1eea6bc vt82c686: Fix up power management io base and config
Similar to the SMBus io registers there is a power management io range
that is set via similar base address reg and enable bit. Some handling
of this was already there but with several problems: using the wrong
registers and bits, wrong size range, not acually updating mapping and
handling reset correctly, nor emulating any of the actual io
registers. Some of these errors are fixed up here.

After this patch we use the correct base address register, enable bit
and region size and allow guests to map/unmap this region, but we
still don't emulate any of the registers in this range.

911629e6d3 vt82c686: Fix SMBus IO base and configuration registers
The base address of the SMBus io ports and its enabled status is set
by registers in the PCI config space but this was not correctly
emulated. Instead the SMBus registers were mapped on realize to the
base address set by a property to the address expected by fuloong2e
firmware.

Fix the base and config register handling to more closely model
hardware which allows to remove the property and allows the guest to
control this mapping. Do all this in reset instead of realize so it's
correctly updated on reset.

The superio memory region holds the io space index/data registers used
to access the superio config registers that are implemented in struct

region to SuperIOConfig and rename it accordingly.
Also remove the unused "data" member of SuperIOConfig which is not
needed as we store actual data values in the regs array.

ff413a1f7f vt82c686: Convert debug printf to trace points
Drop DPRINTF and use trace functions instead. Two debug messages about
unimplemented registers could be converted to qemu_log_mask() but in
reality all registers are currently unimplemented (we just store and
return values of writable regs but do nothing with them). As we
already trace register access there's no need for additional debug
messages so these are just removed and a comment is added as a reminder.

4177b062fc hw/isa/lpc_ich9: Ignore reserved/invalid SCI IRQ
libFuzzer triggered the following assertion:

  cat << EOF | qemu-system-i386 -M pc-q35-5.0 \

  hw/pci/pci.c:268: int pci_bus_get_irq_level(PCIBus *, int): Assertion `irq_num < bus->nirq' failed.

This is because ich9_lpc_sci_irq() returns -1 for reserved
(illegal) values, but ich9_lpc_pmbase_sci_update() considers
it valid and store it in a 8-bit unsigned type. Then the 255
value is used as GSI IRQ, resulting in a PIRQ value of 247,
more than ICH9_LPC_NB_PIRQS (8).

Fix by simply ignoring the invalid access (and reporting it):

  pci_cfg_write ICH9-LPC 31:0 @0x41 <- 0xebed205d
  ICH9 LPC: SCI IRQ SEL #3 is reserved
  pci_cfg_read mch 00:0 @0x0 -> 0x8086

definitions with OBJECT_DECLARE_TYPE.

Patch generated using:

 $ ./scripts/codeconverter/converter.py -i \
   --pattern=QOMStructTypedefSplit $(git grep -l '' -- '*.[ch]')

which will split "typdef struct { ... } TypedefName"
declarations.

Followed by:

 $ ./scripts/codeconverter/converter.py -i --pattern=MoveSymbols \
    $(git grep -l '' -- '*.[ch]')

which will:
- move the typedefs and #defines above the type check macros
- add missing #include "qom/object.h" lines if necessary

243af0225a trace: switch position of headers to what Meson requires
Meson doesn't enjoy the same flexibility we have with Make in choosing
the include path. In particular the tracing headers are using
$(build_root)/$(<D).

In order to keep the include directives unchanged,
the simplest solution is to generate headers with patterns like
"trace/trace-audio.h" and place forwarding headers in the source tree
such that for example "audio/trace.h" includes "trace/trace-audio.h".

This patch is too ugly to be applied to the Makefiles now. It's only
a way to separate the changes to the tracing header files from the
Meson rewrite of the tracing logic.

Not exactly elegant, I'm afraid.

The "when != lbl:" is necessary to avoid transforming

         if (fun(args, &err)) {
             goto out
         }
         ...
     out:
         error_propagate(errp, err);

even though other paths to label out still need the error_propagate().
For an actual example, see sclp_realize().

Without the "when strict", Coccinelle transforms vfio_msix_setup(),
incorrectly. I don't know what exactly "when strict" does, only that
it helps here.

The match of return is narrower than what I want, but I can't figure
out how to express "return where the operand doesn't use @err". For
an example where it's too narrow, see vfio_intx_enable().

Silently fails to convert hw/arm/armsse.c, because Coccinelle gets
confused by ARMSSE being used both as typedef and function-like macro
there.  Converted manually.

Line breaks tidied up manually. One nested declaration of @local_err
deleted manually. Preexisting unwanted blank line dropped in

6172e067a4 fdc: Reject clash between -drive if=floppy and -global isa-fdc
The floppy controller devices desugar their drive properties into
floppy devices (since commit a92bd191a4 "fdc: Move qdev properties to
FloppyDrive", v2.8.0). This involves some bad magic in
fdctrl_connect_drives(), and exists for backward compatibility.

The functions for boards to create floppy controller devices
fdctrl_init_isa(), fdctrl_init_sysbus(), and sun4m_fdctrl_init()
desugar -drive if=floppy to these floppy controller drive properties.

If you use both -drive if=floppy (or its -fda / -fdb sugar) and
-global isa-fdc for the same floppy device, -global silently loses the
conflict, and both backends involved end up with the floppy device
frontend attached, as demonstrated by iotest 172 (see commit before
previous).  This is wrong.

Desugar -drive if=floppy straight to floppy devices instead, with
helper fdctrl_init_drives(). The conflict now gets rejected cleanly:
first, fdctrl_connect_drives() creates the floppy for the controller's
property, then fdctrl_init_drives() attempts to create the floppy for
-drive if=floppy, but fails because the unit is already in use.

Output of iotest 172 changes in three ways:

1. The clash gets rejected.

2. In one test case, "info qtree" has the floppy devices swapped, and
   "info block" has their QOM paths swapped. This is because the
   floppy device for -fda now gets created after the one for -global
   isa-fdc.driveB.

3. The error message for -global floppy.drive=floppy0 changes. Before
   the patch, we set isa-fdc.driveA to -fda's block backend, then
   create the floppy device for it, then move the backend from
   isa-fdc.driveA to floppy.drive. Floppy creation fails when
   applying -global floppy.drive=floppy0, because floppy0 is still
   attached to isa-fdc. After the patch, we create the floppy for
   -fda, then set its drive property to floppy0. Now floppy creation
   succeeds, but setting the drive property fails, because -global
   already set it. Yes, this is exasperatingly complicated.

d2623129a7 qom: Drop parameter @errp of object_property_add() & friends
The only way object_property_add() can fail is when a property with
the same name already exists. Since our property names are all
hardcoded, failure is a programming error, and the appropriate way to
handle it is passing &error_abort.

Same for its variants, except for object_property_add_child(), which
additionally fails when the child already has a parent. Parentage is
also under program control, so this is a programming error, too.

We have a bit over 500 callers. Almost half of them pass
&error_abort, slightly fewer ignore errors, one test case handles
errors, and the remaining few callers pass them to their own callers.

The previous few commits demonstrated once again that ignoring
programming errors is a bad idea.

Of the few ones that pass on errors, several violate the Error API.
The Error ** argument must be NULL, &error_abort, &error_fatal, or a
pointer to a variable containing NULL. Passing an argument of the
latter kind twice without clearing it in between is wrong: if the
first call sets an error, it no longer points to NULL for the second
call.  ich9_pm_add_properties(), sparc32_ledma_realize(),
sparc32_dma_realize(), xilinx_axidma_realize(), xilinx_enet_realize()
are wrong that way.

When the one appropriate choice of argument is &error_abort, letting
users pick the argument is a bad idea.

Drop parameter @errp and assert the preconditions instead.

There's one exception to "duplicate property name is a programming
error": the way object_property_add() implements the magic (and
undocumented) "automatic arrayification". Don't drop @errp there.
Instead, rename object_property_add() to object_property_try_add(),
and add the obvious wrapper object_property_add().

e508430619 hw/isa/superio: Make the components QOM children
isa_superio_realize() attempts to make isa-parallel and isa-serial QOM
children, but this does not work, because it calls
object_property_add_child() after realizing with qdev_init_nofail().
Realizing a device without a parent gives it one: it gets put into the
"/machine/unattached/" orphanage.  The extra
object_property_add_child() fails, and isa_superio_realize() ignores
the error.

Move the object_property_add_child() before qdev_init_nofail(), and
pass &error_abort.

For the other components, isa_superio_realize() doesn't even try. Add
object_property_add_child() there.

This affects machines 40p, clipper and fulong2e.

For instance, fulong2e has its vt82c686b-superio (which is an
isa-superio) at /machine/unattached/device[9]. Before the patch, its
components are at /machine/unattached/device[10] .. [14].  Afterwards,
they are at
/machine/unattached/device[9]/{parallel0,serial0,serial1,isa-fdc,i8042}.

64a7b8de42 qom/object: Use common get/set uint helpers
Several objects implemented their own uint property getters and setters,
despite them being straightforward (without any checks/validations on
the values themselves) and identical across objects. This makes use of
an enhanced API for object_property_add_uintXX_ptr() which offers
default setters.

Some of these setters used to update the value even if the type visit
failed (eg. because the value being set overflowed over the given type).
The new setter introduces a check for these errors, not updating the
value if an error occurred. The error is propagated.

836e1b3813 qom/object: enable setter for uint types
Traditionally, the uint-specific property helpers only offer getters.
When adding object (or class) uint types, one must therefore use the
generic property helper if a setter is needed (and probably duplicate
some code writing their own getters/setters).

This enhances the uint-specific property helper APIs by adding a
bitwise-or'd 'flags' field and modifying all clients of that API to set
this paramater to OBJ_PROP_FLAG_READ. This maintains the current
behaviour whilst allowing others to also set OBJ_PROP_FLAG_WRITE (or use
the more convenient OBJ_PROP_FLAG_READWRITE) in the future (which will
automatically install a setter). Other flags may be added later.

54d31236b9 sysemu: Split sysemu/runstate.h off sysemu/sysemu.h
sysemu/sysemu.h is a rather unfocused dumping ground for stuff related

* It's included widely: in my "build everything" tree, changing
  sysemu/sysemu.h still triggers a recompile of some 1100 out of 6600
  objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on
  qemu/osdep.h, down from 5400 due to the previous two commits).

* It pulls in more than a dozen additional headers.

Split stuff related to run state management into its own header
sysemu/runstate.h.

Touching sysemu/sysemu.h now recompiles some 850 objects. qemu/uuid.h
also drops from 1100 to 850, and qapi/qapi-types-run-state.h from 4400
to 4200. Touching new sysemu/runstate.h recompiles some 500 objects.

Since I'm touching MAINTAINERS to add sysemu/runstate.h anyway, also

d5938f29fe Clean up inclusion of sysemu/sysemu.h
In my "build everything" tree, changing sysemu/sysemu.h triggers a
recompile of some 5400 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and
objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h).

Almost a third of its inclusions are actually superfluous. Delete
them. Downgrade two more to qapi/qapi-types-run-state.h, and move one
from char/serial.h to char/serial.c.

hw/semihosting/config.c, monitor/monitor.c, qdev-monitor.c, and
stubs/semihost.c define variables declared in sysemu/sysemu.h without
including it. The compiler is cool with that, but include it anyway.

This doesn't reduce actual use much, as it's still included into
widely included headers. The next commit will tackle that.

hw/qdev.h is actually pointless: all it does is include hw/qdev-core.h
and hw/qdev-properties.h, which in turn includes hw/qdev-core.h.
Replace the remaining uses of hw/qdev.h by hw/qdev-properties.h.

64552b6be4 Include hw/irq.h a lot less
In my "build everything" tree, changing hw/irq.h triggers a recompile
of some 5400 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that
don't depend on qemu/osdep.h).

hw/hw.h supposedly includes it for convenience. Several other headers
include it just to get qemu_irq and.or qemu_irq_handler.

Move the qemu_irq and qemu_irq_handler typedefs from hw/irq.h to
qemu/typedefs.h, and then include hw/irq.h only where it's still
needed. Touching it now recompiles only some 500 objects.

71e8a91585 Include sysemu/reset.h a lot less
In my "build everything" tree, changing sysemu/reset.h triggers a
recompile of some 2600 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and
objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h).

The main culprit is hw/hw.h, which supposedly includes it for
convenience.

Include sysemu/reset.h only where it's needed. Touching it now
recompiles less than 200 objects.

81c48dd796 hw/i386/acpi: Add object_resolve_type_unambiguous to improve modularity
When building with CONFIG_Q35=n, we get:

    LINK    x86_64-softmmu/qemu-system-x86_64
  /usr/bin/ld: hw/i386/acpi-build.o: in function `acpi_get_misc_info':
  /source/qemu/hw/i386/acpi-build.c:243: undefined reference to `ich9_lpc_find'
  collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
  make[1]: *** [Makefile:204: qemu-system-x86_64] Error 1

This is due to a dependency in acpi-build.c on the ICH9_LPC
(via ich9_lpc_find) and PIIX4_PM (via piix4_pm_find) devices.

To allow better modularity (compile acpi-build.c with only
Q35/ICH9 or ISAPC/PIIX4), refactor the similar helper as
object_resolve_type_unambiguous(). This way we relax the
linker dependencies and can build the x86 targets with a
selection of machines (instead of all of them).

9040e6dfa8 i386, acpi: check acpi_memory_hotplug capacity in pre_plug
Currently we do device realization like below:

   hotplug_handler_pre_plug()
   dc->realize()
   hotplug_handler_plug()

Before we do device realization and plug, we should allocate necessary
resources and check if memory-hotplug-support property is enabled.

At the piix4 and ich9, the memory-hotplug-support property is checked at
plug stage. This means that device has been realized and mapped into guest
address space 'pc_dimm_plug()' by the time acpi plug handler is called,
where it might fail and crash QEMU due to reaching g_assert_not_reached()
(piix4) or error_abort (ich9).

Fix it by checking if memory hotplug is enabled at pre_plug stage
where we can gracefully abort hotplug request.

82f5181777 kconfig: introduce kconfig files
The Kconfig files were generated mostly with this script:

  for i in `grep -ho CONFIG_[A-Z0-9_]* default-configs/* | sort -u`; do
    set fnord `git grep -lw $i -- 'hw/*/Makefile.objs' `
    shift
    if test $# = 1; then

config ${i#CONFIG_}

EOF
      git add $(dirname $1)/Kconfig

  done
  sed -i '$d' hw/*/Kconfig
  for i in hw/*; do
    if test -d $i && ! test -f $i/Kconfig; then
      touch $i/Kconfig
      git add $i/Kconfig
    fi
  done

Whenever a symbol is referenced from multiple subdirectories, the
script prints the list of directories that reference the symbol.
These symbols have to be added manually to the Kconfig files.

Kconfig.host and hw/Kconfig were created manually.
