
Previously, we had consecutive, very short chapters called "Generic WAL" and "Custom WAL Resource Managers," explaining different approaches to the same problem. Merge them into a single chapter. Explain most of the differences between the approaches in the chapter's introductory text, rather than in the individual sections. This directory contains the source code distribution of the PostgreSQL database management system.
PostgreSQL is an advanced object-relational database management system that supports an extended subset of the SQL standard, including transactions, foreign keys, subqueries, triggers, user-defined types and functions. This distribution also contains C language bindings.
