Disk Images with Pre-installed Systems
We are trying to collect a minimal hard disk or floppy disk image for all
free supported operating systems that Bochs can run. Each TAR file
contains everything you need to try out the operating system, including
a .bochsrc, BIOS and VGA BIOS. The goal is to make it very easy for
anyone to try out a disk image. More info...
- FreeDOS
5-meg hard disk image which boots into FreeDOS.
- Linux
4-meg hard disk image which boots into Linux. It should boot ok.
- DLX Linux
A 10-meg disk that boots DLX Linux (1.3.x kernel).
- 1gig Linux Image
1 Gig Slackware Linux disk image from Michael Calabrese. This is a
178-meg download, and uncompresses to about 1 Gig. If you have
the bandwidth, it could save you hours of installing. If you have bunzip2,
there's also a
bz2-compressed
version, which is 17 meg smaller. This version has X windows installed
but it doesn't display correctly. ( Readme )
- 512 Meg Redhat Image
512 Meg Redhat Linux disk image from Leyland Needham. This is a
99-meg download, and uncompresses to about 512 meg. One thing that's
special about this image is that in includes X windows, with an X11
configuration file that REALLY WORKS!
