This patch introduces randomization of commpage position. From now on commpage
table contains offsets from begining to of the commpage to the particular
commpage entry. Similary addresses of symbols in ELF memory image "commpage"
are just offsets from the begining of the commpage.
This patch also updates KDL so that commpage entries are recognized and shown
correctly in stack trace. An update of Debugger is yet to be done.
* Added the aforementioned functions.
* create_area_etc() now takes a guard size parameter.
* The thread_info::stack_base/end range now refers to the usable range
only.
* add Wcscoll() and Wcsxfrm() ICU locale backend
* provide implementations of wcscoll() and wcsxfrm() that are using
the respective methods of the locale backend
* make room in mbstate_t for containing an ICU-converter's state
(well, in fact the whole converter object)
* adjust libroot's locale add-on to clone converters into a given
mbstate_t directly
* adjust ICUThreadLocalStorageValue to contain the converter pointer
instead of a converter-ID (if the converter is related to an
mbstate_t, it points into the mbstate_t).
* adjust users of converters to directly use converter pointers
instead of ICUConverterRef
* drop now unused ICUConverterManager and ICUConverterRef
* update gcc4 optional package
This brings our multibyte implementation into a fully working state,
both non-ascii and non-8-bit characters can now be handled normally
in the Terminal, i.e. this finally fixes#6276.
N.B.: Since the size of mbstate_t has changed, everything (including
the compiler!) needs to be rebuilt.
* add MultibyteStringToWchar() to ICU locale backend
* implement mbsrtowcs() and mbsnrtowcs() on top of
MultibyteStringToWchar()
* drop respective glibc files
Bring the changes that aren't package management related and the ones
that are but don't take effect as long as they are ignored by the build
system into the master.
Summary of changes:
* Introduce private header <directories.h> with constants for a good
deal of paths that should usually be retrieved via find_directory().
* Replace hard-coded paths by using find_directory() or the
<directories.h> constants (e.g. in drivers and the kernel).
* Add find_directory() constants needed for package management.
* Add __HAIKU_ABI_NAME and B_HAIKU_ABI_NAME macros.
* src/apps/deskbar: BeMenu.* -> DeskbarMenu.*,
DeskBarUtils.* -> DeskbarUtils.*
* Change deskbar menu settings directory from ~/config/be to
~/config/settings/deskbar.
* Other smaller cleanups, changes, and fixes.
* add errno_private.h, which defines the __set_errno() macro with
and without tracing
* instead of setting errno manually, all libroot's code now invokes
__set_errno(), which makes it much easier to trace changes to errno
* redirect glibc's use of __set_errno() to our own version
* update copyrights of locale backend files
Multibyte-support has been rewritten to use ICU as backend.
While this does not necessarily work properly in every aspect
(e.g. the shell still has [different] problems with multibyte-
characters now), it does fix#6263 and #7700.
* add implementations for the following multibyte-related
functions:
btwoc()
mblen()
mbrlen()
mbrtowc()
mbsinit()
mbtowc()
wcrtomb()
wcswidth()
wctob()
wctomb()
* the implementation of the above function live in a symbol
named __<name>, the above symbol names are defined as a weak
alias to the internal ones - TODO: we need to make sure to
only invoked the internal functions (i.e. prepended with __)
in order to avoid problems with symbol preemption.
* deactivate the limited mb implementation we provided before,
as well as respective stuff from glibc
* add actual converter methods MultibyteToWchar() and WcharToMultibyte()
to locale backend and implement them in the ctype subpart
* add management code for maintaining converters referenced by mbstate_t
address protection bits as well as the wiring flags for an arbitrary address
in a team's address space. Will be used in the debugger for the purposes
of the memory inspector/editor, in order to determine whether it can in fact
allow editing for the currently inspected address range.

* Reorganized the kernel locking related to threads and teams.
* We now discriminate correctly between process and thread signals. Signal
handlers have been moved to teams. Fixes#5679.
* Implemented real-time signal support, including signal queuing, SA_SIGINFO
support, sigqueue(), sigwaitinfo(), sigtimedwait(), waitid(), and the addition
of the real-time signal range. Closes#1935 and #2695.
* Gave SIGBUS a separate signal number. Fixes#6704.
* Implemented <time.h> clock and timer support, and fixed/completed alarm() and
[set]itimer(). Closes#5682.
* Implemented support for thread cancellation. Closes#5686.
* Moved send_signal() from <signal.h> to <OS.h>. Fixes#7554.
* Lots over smaller more or less related changes.

* move system_revision.h to headers/private/libroot
* unify libroot's get_system_revision() (the one I introduced recently) with kernel's
get_haiku_revision(), the function is now called get_haiku_revision() in the kernel
and __get_haiku_revision() in libroot
* system_revision.c is now being built as part of libroot and as part of the kernel
* adjusted all callers of get_system_revision() accordingly

(now at least <std> and <offset> are supported properly)
* instead of creating a TimeZone object whenever needed, we now
create it in tzset() and keep it around
* add tests for TZ to locale_test
git-svn-id: file:///srv/svn/repos/haiku/haiku/trunk@40788 a95241bf-73f2-0310-859d-f6bbb57e9c96
using libroot_debug.so, instead of having to hardcode them in the application
via calling private heap functions.
* The following options are implemented: 'p' turns on paranoid validation,
'w' triggers periodic wall checking every 500ms ('W' does the same, but every
100ms), 'g' to use guard pages (beware, this will dramatically increase
memory usage), and 'r' which forbids reusing of memory, freed memory is never
actually freed.

make some more perl tests happy.
* no longer expect a ICU timezone ID in the TZ environment variable,
but only expect this format if the TZ-value is starting with ':'
* accept "standard" TZ-values like "EST5" (of which only "EST" is
relevant to us) - if such a value is specified, we hardcode the
timezone name to the given value, no matter how ICU calls it
* adjust tests accordingly
git-svn-id: file:///srv/svn/repos/haiku/haiku/trunk@39415 a95241bf-73f2-0310-859d-f6bbb57e9c96
* protect against invocations of ctype-macros/-functions with negative
character indices by mirroring the corresponding values at negative
array indices (the legal access range of __ctype_b is now [-128..255])
git-svn-id: file:///srv/svn/repos/haiku/haiku/trunk@38708 a95241bf-73f2-0310-859d-f6bbb57e9c96
* avoid trying to overwrite values of a constant structure when
updating the numeric locale data values used by glibc
git-svn-id: file:///srv/svn/repos/haiku/haiku/trunk@38623 a95241bf-73f2-0310-859d-f6bbb57e9c96
* _kern_[sg]et_timezone() now accepts/passes out the timezone name, too
* adjust Time preflet and clockconfig to pass the timezone name into the kernel
when calling _kern_set_timezone()
* ajust implementation of tzset() to fetch the timezone name from the kernel
via _kern_get_timezone() instead of reading 'libroot_timezone_info'
* the Time preflet no longer writes 'libroot_timezone_info'
git-svn-id: file:///srv/svn/repos/haiku/haiku/trunk@38164 a95241bf-73f2-0310-859d-f6bbb57e9c96
* no longer keep a separate time-backend, since the implementation needs to
access (data of) the locale backend anyway
* moved more stuff from localtime_fading_out.c to localtime.cpp
* added respective tests to locale_test
* added two more tests copied from glibc, test_time.c and tst-mktime.c
git-svn-id: file:///srv/svn/repos/haiku/haiku/trunk@38162 a95241bf-73f2-0310-859d-f6bbb57e9c96

* implemented tzset() to read the required info from libroot_timezone_info

* support invocation of ctype/wctype macros with EOF/WEOF (-1), which would
access more or less random memory before - I don't know why this worked
more or less reliably for the POSIX locale, but it didn't for any other
git-svn-id: file:///srv/svn/repos/haiku/haiku/trunk@37730 a95241bf-73f2-0310-859d-f6bbb57e9c96
- Reimplemented mutex to use the _kern_mutex*() syscalls.
- The initializer functions cannot fail anymore -- changed their return type
to void.
- Changed the initializer function semantics to not copy the name by default
anymore (as in the kernel). Also added *_etc() versions of them that take an
additional flags.
- Added static initializer macros.
- Made the mutex (and thus recursive_lock) lock functions non-interruptable.
- Got rid of the "lazy" version. They are no longer needed, since the
initialization of the standard types can be done statically and cannot fail.
* Adjusted libroot, runtime loader, and other code using the private libroot
locking primitives to the new semantics.
* pthreads mutexes and condition variables:
- Reimplemented using the _kern_mutex*() syscalls.
- Consistently use POSIX error codes.
- Fixed some not quite POSIX compliant behavior.

returned by open() aren't suitable for directory iteration and because checks
have to be performed (like whether this is a directory at all and whether the
user has read permission).
* Added __create_dir_struct() for the attribute, index, and query open
functions to use instead.
git-svn-id: file:///srv/svn/repos/haiku/haiku/trunk@33974 a95241bf-73f2-0310-859d-f6bbb57e9c96
* Therefore, all pthread functions should now work fine on all threads.

* Got rid of <dirent_private.h> -- the __DIR structure is private to dirent.c,
now. The attribute directory, index directory, and query functions use the
the public POSIX API, so does the kernel module code. Those components were
not initializing the structure correctly anymore since the introduction of
telldir()/seekdir().
