101a9782a2 Add crash(8), a utility to diagnose kernel crashes. This is basically 
ddb running on crash dumps, but with two notable changes:

- Breakpoints, watches, etc are obviously never going to work so they
  are not handled.

- You can pipe output to the shell, e.g. ps | grep foo

Items remaining to be done:

- Port it to architectures other than i386. This isn't difficult, just
  a case of making db_disasm.c/db_trace.c or their equivalent compile
  and work.

- Make more of the "show" commands work, e.g "show uvmexp".

a2517242b7 - Mount /proc automatically. We have fixed a ton of bugs, it's needed for 
Linux compat, and we are planning to kill ptrace and make the debugger
  use /proc instead.

- kernfs is hosed at the moment and nothing appears to rely on it any more,
  so disable it. (IPsec did at one point, IIRC).

3c12759a90 from yorick hardy: 
- build mesa_dri.so, saving ~1.8MB per module (yay, the size of the
   xsetrver set goes down massively now)
 - use the right includes so that dri * mesa use the same headers
 - correct LIBDPLIBS for libdri

tested by jmcneill, and builds fine for me.

a0263b80b8 I've just discovered config_found_ia(), which means that wskbd(4) and 
wsmouse(4) can attach directly at arckbd(4) and I can dispose of the
ugly arcwsmouse(4) and arcwskbd(4) interpositions.  Do that, and purge
them from the documentation as well.

175e4bfbdf Add -DSUPPORT_8_3_SOURCE_FILESYSTEM option - currently *only enabled on atari* 
which if a set file cannot be found will attempt to truncate down to 8.3 and
check again. Required for install with sets from GEMDOS filesystem.

238b355bab Remove the 'nls' tag from ./usr/share/locale/sk_SK.ISO8859-2/LC_MESSAGES, 
since we install the directory whether MKNLS=no or not.

Replace comp- with base- in some syspkg names.

Put firmware and files from /usr/share/mk/ into their own syspkgs.

7e113f2eda Add support for X11FLAVOUR=xorg to NetBSD/alpha. Tested on PWS500 
(ev56, handled as non-BWX by Xorg) and XP1000 (ev6, BWX). Also
tested by Rafael Ruiz on a AlphaStation 255 (thanks !).
non-PCI adapters are not supported; someone should make these work
as a wsfb device.

6ad7662725 Pare down the size of the INSTALL kernel images. This was done by: 
1) Removing chio, rcmd, restore, scsictl, shutdown and slattach
   from the ramdisk images
2) Removing the isp* driver from the INSTALL kernel configs
3) Reducing the memory disk and ramdisk size back from 4400 to 4200 blocks

As a result, also remove mention as QLogic ISP controllers as being
supported by the installation.

With this, the INSTALL kernel images should once again be usable;
the firmware apparently imposes a size limit around 5MB on the files
it will load.

Longer-term, this port probably ought to get it's own stand-alone boot
loader, so that it might use e.g. loadable modules.

ccd5483536 Before installboot(8), check running machine types (milan or others) 
via sysctl(3) and copy appropriate tertiary boot.atari loader
from /usr/mdec/{std,milan} into targetroot.
Full fresh installations of 5.0_BETA and 4.0_STABLE with the same change
have been tested by David Ross on port-atari.

Fixes the final portion of PR port-atari/40315, and
pullup requests to both netbsd-4 and netbsd-5 will be sent shortly.

9f9e7cdcd7 Remove /boot.atari, which is no longer installed during build 
and removed from base.tgz.

Note we must not mark this obsolete because this tertiary bootloader
will be copied into / during installation and it shouldn't be removed
by postinstall(8).

4f13ce5106 Use "-Os -freorder-blocks" as well as <sys.mk> for ramdisk build. 
"-Os might cause compiler bugs on sh3" comment was for egcs or gcc3.
"-Os" might be also safe, but use the same one with the default sh3 build
for now.

Briefly tested on (not emulated but real) dreamcast.

52ed7b035f Fixes PR lib/39662, shortcomings in LC_{MONETARY,NUMERIC,TIME,MESSAGES} db format.

[libc]
- localeio.[ch] and lc*.[ch] in src/lib/libc/locale was replaced by
  new locale-db implementation using citrus_db backend,
  see src/lib/libc/citrus/citrus_lc_*.[ch].
- add citrus_bcs_strtou?l.c. don't use strtou?l locale implementation
  internally, because they're locale-aware function.
- add some stubs for multi-locale issue, see {current,global}_locale.c.
- remove some obsolete file, setrunelocale.c, ___runetype_mb.c.
- remove __savectype() from ctypeio.[ch].

[tools]
- mklocale(1): add new option ``-t'' that generates new style
  LC_{MONETARY,NUMERIC,TIME,MESSAGES} locale-db format.
- chrtbl(1): added ctypeio.[ch] for __savectype().

[locale-db]
- added en_US.US-ASCII locale.
- removed some shareable locale definition file:
    en_US.US-ASCII -> en_US.ISO8859-1, en_US.UTF-8
    zh_CN.eucCN -> zh_CN.GB18030
    and more...see src/share/locale/*/Makefile.
- remove obsoleted locale sr_YU, added new locale sr_ME, sr_RS.
- change locale name ja_JP.ISO2022-JP* -> ja_JP.ISO-2022-JP*
  for X11's locale.alias file alignments.
- fix regression test, wrong wcs?width(3), NAN/INF usage.

i tested release-build following arch:
  i386, amd64, hpc{mips,arm,sh}, sparc64, vax.

citrus_lc_*.[ch] also can read old-plain-text style locale-db.
so that backward compatibility is keeped, but lc*.[ch] can't read
new citrus_db'ed locale-db and localeio.c never check sanity,
so forward compatibility is broken ;-<

old mklocale(1) doesn't know -t option, so you have to rebuild toolchain.

827c9991f2 Set an apropriate locale depending on the selected language. 
This does not realy change anything in the crunched version, but helps
debugging foreign languages and will magically start working once we
un-castrate locales in the crunched environment.

cf59801230 x68k pow(4) now uses MI sysmon_pswitch framework. suggested by tsutsui@. 
- Make MD poffd(8) retire, and use MI powerd(8) instead of it.
- Make /dev/pow1 retire, because nobody holds /dev/pow0 any longer.
  Use /dev/pow0 for pow(4) ioctl.
- POWIOCSSIGNAL ioctl which is for poffd(8) is also obsoleted.

2aea62cc33 Work around another bunch of places where Solaris' /usr/xpg4/bin/sh 
can't handle for-loops with no arguments ("for foo in") which result
from empty make-variables.

One step further in getting NetBSD cross-compiling from Solaris 10/x86.

Tested on the netbsd-5 branch.

7828361bcf - don't build compat_linux on alpha until sys/modules/compat_linux/Makefile 
handles required MD files under sys/compat/linux/arch/alpha
- build exec_elf64 for all 64 bit arch
- use MACHINE_ARCH!="alpha" instead of MACHINE!="alpha" for exec_elf32 check

XXX we have many histrical inconsistent use of amd64 vs x86_64.

36e401605d Reorganize lists for MD modules: 
- move MD module files from md.* into separate module.* lists
- make those module lists per MACHINE_CPU or MACHINE_ARCH,
  rather than per MACHINE

Tested on several ports.

XXX maybe we should also move usr/tests/modules/k_helper/k_helper.kmod
XXX from lists/tests/mi to lists/tests/module.mi and disable it on evbppc.

5b8ba55f76 Switch the i386 installation CDs away from RAM disks and instead use the 
CD-ROM as the root file system. It contains a limited subset of $DESTDIR
along with sysinst. This will help to massively reduce the amount of memory
needed to install from CD or netboot, and allow us to continue using the
generic kernel on the CDs.

0fe756618b It looks the ARC BIOS has another limit which prevents loading 
a kernel larger than 8MB (it is not emulated by gxemul BTW),
so disable several devices in GENERIC and shrink RAMDISK kernel again
by sprinkled "no" keywords etc.
