1e948ee1c3 Put a local copy of the SysV IPC compatibility from compat/common in here, so 
it's not dependent on COMPAT_10.  Also, fix translation of shmctl(), since
FreeBSD's is a little different.

0a558b3f1f Standardize COMPAT_SUNOS -- remove all references to

a255f23ee3 In XPG4.2, the ss_size member of type stack_t (struct sigaltstack) is specified 
to be of type size_t; since this imposes an interface change on the Alpha
(sizeof(int) != sizeof(size_t)), allocate a new system call number and make
the previous version a compatibility system call.

- Fix memcntl()
- Fixed stat and mknod syscalls to properly disassemble and reassemble
  dev_t values to/from emulation dev_t's
- Added pty (ptmx) subsystem at svr4net minor number 10 -- /dev/ptmx
- Implemented fork1() as fork() (should change if and when threads get
  added to the system)
- fixed spellings in disclaimer in svr4_net.c; it looks like someone went
  and did a s/nd/st/g on the whole file... yuck
- changed ptmx device to also halt on ENXIO (for pty files that exist with
  no kernel pty to back them)
- fixed SVR4 setpgrp() to be a near equivalent to BSD setsid() (old
  emulation didn't create a new session)

1abecf9a70 Deal with svr4_ulimit() return values in the same way as in

4174920943 Per X/Open CAE Specification, Issue 5, change the semantics of pread(), 
pread64(), pwrite(), pwrite64():
* The `offset' argument specifies an absolute offset within the file.
* After performing the read resp. write operation, restore the original
  offset within the file.
Also, change the argument structure used by svr4_sys_prwite64() to
svr4_sys_pwrite64_args, instead of the 32-bit offset version.

14cd99880c Fix the shared library versioning snafu caused by the recent changes 
to the stat(2) family and msync(2).  This uses a primitive function
versioning scheme.

This reverts the libc shared library major version from 13 to 12, and
adds a few new interfaces to bring us to libc version 12.20.

e7029fc0da Make the audio API (almost) SunOS compatible. 
The changes is to allow some limited mixer manipulation through
the audio device (instead of the mixer device).
This rendered 4 methods in audio_hw_if unused so garbage collect these.

1cd83a5971 Fix "missing entries" bug when reading large directories: When reading a 
directory and running out of space in the dest buffer, off should point to the
current entry (which was not saved) and not to the next.
I discovered this bug using linux and SunOS emulation over NFS, but seems to
affect other emulations as well.

d3de043fad Make sure the blocksize is always a power of 2 when inspected. 
OSS only uses powers of 2 so some programs expect this.
Now Quake works!

9745684ebe Changes to the sudio system: 
- It is now possible to handle devices that want "looping" DMA,
    e.g. the SoundBlaster correctly.  The WSS and SB drivers use this.
    To do this several new methods were introduced in audio_hw_if.
  - Different silence handling (forced by previous change).
  - The audio driver can now be mmap()-ed, but due to problems in
    the VM system only for writing for now.
  - The OSS (Linux) audio emulation takes advantage of some of the
    new features.

8727da130b In the name of backwards compatibility AUDIO_ENCODING_LINEAR has been 
renamed AUDIO_ENCODING_SLINEAR and AUDIO_ENCODING_LINEAR reverts to the
NetBSD 1.2 sematics.  A kernel with COMPAT_12 defined will accept
AUDIO_ENCODING_LINEAR and treat it as before, without COMPAT_12 it
will be rejected.

3d6483ab9a Ignore use of sunos_audioio.monitor_gain because it has no equivalent in the 
audio sub-system.  It used to use the ``__spare'' member of the audio_info
struct, but that has been removed.

e3f99a9397 Pass the vnode type to vaccess(), and use it when checking VEXEC. Make sure

4fe8f4e95f PR/3354: From Michael Eriksson; I_SETSIG did not handle O_ASYNC properly 
and we would never get asynchronous events back. This affected the java
SDK. Also GC O_RAIOSIG which was a Dell/SVR4'ism which is now RIP.

78d5e815bf clean up substantially. Transform clean, depend, cleandir targets from :: 
to :, so they can be used e.g. with <bsd.prog.mk>.  Standardize variable
names used to configure kernel libraries.

Variables used by these Makefile.inc's are:

S               must be set to the top of the 'sys' tree.
${LIB}DST       may be set to the location of the directory where library
                objects are to be built.  Defaults to ${.OBJDIR}/lib/${lib}.
${LIB}_AS       may be set to 'obj' to build a object from the library's
                object files.  (Otherwise, a library will be built.)
                Defaults to 'library'.
${LIB}MISCMAKEFLAGS
                Miscellaneous flags to be passed to the library's Makefile when
                building.  See library's Makefile for more details about
                supported flags and their default values.

(where LIB is COMPAT, and lib is compat, in this case.)

b89a3425b7 Eliminate obsolete TIMEZONE and DST options. 
Eliminate obsolete global kernel variable "struct timezone tz"
Add RTC_OFFSET option
Add global kernel variable rtc_offset, which is initialized by
RTC_OFFSET at kernel compile time.
on i386, x68k, mac68k, pc532 and arm32, RTC_OFFSET indicates how many
minutes west (east) of GMT the hardware RTC runs. Defaults to 0.
Places where tz variable was used to indicate this in the past have
been replaced with rtc_offset.
Add sysctl interface to rtc_offset.
Kill obsolete DST_* macros in sys/time.h
gettimeofday now always returns zeroed timezone if zone is requested.
settimeofday now ignores and logs attempts to set non-existant kernel
timezone.
