19656dada9 For now descend into old vi for virecover and doc. Unfortunately the 
new vi vi.ref is now texinfo and our makeinfo is too old to deal with it.

move the AC_CACHE_CHECK(__stack_chk_fail, [ ... ]) code out
of the linux-specific section, so that it will be used by
everyone.

use AC_CHECK_FUNS() to check for __stack_chk_guard on netbsd.

now this test is properly cross-compile friendly.

e425ce2906 Enable MKHTML by default; we now install the HTML version of the man 
pages as well as the source & catman versions.
Add "htmlinstall" to default MANINSTALL, so MKHTML will operate correctly.

3c52d9932f We are not creating a.out NMAGIC files, and handling the required alignement 
of sections explicitly in the ldscript, so do not pass -n to ld.
This fixes the strange combined text/data sections seen with certain
(smaller) kernels as explained on tech-toolchain.
Found by Nick Hudson, ok: matthew green.
