Make gcc 2.96 (and maybe earlier) happier. Include <stdlib.h>,<string.>,
etc. as appropriate to get exit,srncmp,abs,abort,etc.

On suggestion by Alistair Crooks use stat() instead of lstat() for "bzcat"
and "bzip -c -d" to check if a symlinks target is really a file.
