thorpej b84f740be0 Move bpfattach()/bpfdetach() calls into ether_ifattach()/ether_ifdetach(). 2000-11-15 01:02:11 +00:00
thorpej 7ca3fb9ef0 Move the check for "promisc + unicast + not for us" into ether_input(),
and change Ethernet drivers to always pass all received frames to
ether_input() (with a few exceptions, which are documented in the
code).

thorpej f98d358a1f Rework layer 2 protocol input routines. Instead of calling e.g. ether_input()
directly, call the function pointer (*if_input)(ifp, m). The input routine
expects the packet header to be at the head of the packet, and will adjust
as necessary. Privatize the layer 2 input and output routines, allowing
*_ifattach() to set them up as appropriate.

thorpej 0193701fcd Use ETHER_*_LEN constants from <net/if_ether.h> instead of defining them
ourselves. Subtract ETHER_CRC_LEN as necessary to get the same values
for these constants as were previously defined locally.

is 07b064e02e New ARP system, supports IPv4 over any hardware link.
Some of the stuff (e.g., rarpd, bootpd, dhcpd etc., libsa) still will
only support Ethernet. Tcpdump itself should be ok, but libpcap needs
lot of work.

For the detailed change history, look at the commit log entries for
the is-newarp branch.

is 40cd9f0062 During the data type cleanup, a bug crept in in the code handling mbufs with
odd length. This would lead to corrupt data sent.

thorpej 748810b06d Changed struct ifnet to have a pointer to the softc of the underlying
device and a printable "external name" (name + unit number), thus eliminating
if_name and if_unit. Updated interface to (*if_watchdog)() and (*if_start)()
to take a struct ifnet *, rather than a unit number.

veego 974e9f6e22 - Cleanup for -Wall and -Wstrict-prototypes
- Added support for multiple floppy drives
- CyberVision64:
        - has now a real console mode
        - another bugfix for boards with the new S3 chip
- Ariadne:
        - fixed crashes with aeput (mbuf failure)

thorpej 5c67e5fad9 New device attachment scheme:
- split softc size and match/attach out from cfdriver into
	  a new struct cfattach.

	- new "attach" directive for files.*. May specify the name of
the cfattach structure, so that devices may be easily attached
to parents with different autoconfiguration semantics.
