...
the option is commented out on everything but kernels I was able
to recognize as INSTALL-like or ones for small memory machines

- convert usage of "defopt" to "defflag" where the relevant option does

not support a value (e.g., it's to be used as "options FOO" instead of
"options FOO=xxx"). options that take a value were converted to
defparam recently.

For MIPS kernel Makefiles, don't set ENDIAN in std.${MACHINE}. Instead,
...
explicitly set MACHINE_ARCH to the appropriate thing. Makefile.mips will
then set all of the internal variables it needs to accordingly.
