310f6fefc3 Several things: 
Clean up the name space here a bit.
Add a `busname' element to struct ofprobe (now struct ofbus_attach_args), and
check against it.
Nuke `ofroot'.
Rename the `openfirm' attribute to `ofbus'.

1483395dbe Move DOS BIOS-geometry and MBR-handling code to MI code for powerpc, arc: 
* Split bios geometry and MBR partition editing code formerly in
    arch/i386/{md,fdisk}.c to mbr.c in mi  directory.
  * Leave /sbin/fdisk parsing/handling code in separate file,
    we may want to change it later. move to mi directory.
  * Create mbr.h with declarations for MBR/BIOS-geomotry code.
    #include "mbr.h" in  i386 md.h.
  * Use symbolic names for 386bsd and new NetBSD partition IDs.

Handle MBRs with both 386bsd and NetBSD partitions less stupidly.

ccfe537e97 don't include <machine/pio.h>. It's unneeded here now (this code 
uses the bus_space_* interfaces), and therefore unwanted.

39926e4051 Send back an error message rather than dumping core when an invalid 
username is entered. The latter, while effective, does not appear to
me to be an appropriate response.

0ed9642fe0 Add menu entries to md_distcustom for installing X11 sets 
in menus.md.{eng,fr}, lifted verbatim from Alpha and pmax.
Give last split-floppy for each X11 set, for 1.3.

FIXME: if the number of floppies in any split set changes for 1.3.1,
syinst is hosed for 1.3.1. Same is true for any release: we can't
install from split sets if the count of floppies doesn't match
the precompiled version.

The number of floppies in a split set should be computed dynamically
from a directory listing, or read from a config file in the split
directory.

5ad9218203 fix uvm-related protection error: we can't write protect the 
vmcmd_map_readvn() area until after we do vn_rdwr().  should fix
problem reported by sean doran.

4f80f2803f Add a diagnostic panic() to catch attempts to call vm_page_unwire() with 
an unmanaged page argument. This can lead to unpredictable results,
depending on the pmap interface (ie, MACHINE_[NEW_]NONCONTIG).

5e0e8cec39 More table-driven changes for different toolchains: 
* new bsd.own.mk variable OBJECT_FMT with values "a.out" or "ELF".
  * use OBJECT_FMT in Makefile tests that depend on toolchain.
  * Add new bsd.own.mk variable NOSHLIB that, if set indicates a given
    port doesnt yet do shared libraries. Set on powerpc.
  * Document new feature-test variables in src/share/mk/bsd.README.
Tested on i386, mips, fakedup Alpha environment.

c285c9fbfa Remove the limit on bufpages we picked up from i386 in 1993 
(which was removed from that port not long after), as it's not
an especially meaningful test.

Also, bump the number of swap buffers allocated to 3/4 the amount
of file i/o buffers (taken from the Amiga port).

f0409ef098 Descend into gprof on all ports to build doc/psd/18.gprof. 
Don't define PROG in gprof on ELF or powerpc.
Put back WARNS= 0 for compatibility with 1.3.1.

85c6760e2d Initialize keyboard structures also from kbdopen(), if necessary. 
To do this, move the flag variable to kbdenable().
This will make kernels with serial console provice a working keyboard driver.

a369db44b3 Add more LINKS+= lines to make (hard) links from libtermcap to libterm as 
required by ELF toolchain.

Don't use symlinks links as bsd.lib.mk does for ELF, because
bsd.link.mk creates symlinks before it creates the hard link.

7667dac2d2 Actually fix, rather than mask, the Amiga big machine panic: the pmap needs 
to (pre)allocate enough kernel page table pages to (among others) map the
buffer cache buffers.
