75f8e74b32 These commits do two things:
1. Provide a consistent and extensible framework for compiling
kernels for the "make snapshot" target.

2. Add OBJDIR support for the "make snapshot" target, in the form
of three new make variables: KERNOBJDIR, KERNSRCDIR, and KERNCONFDIR.
Default values are in the Makefile.inc, and for OBJDIR they should
be defined in /etc/mk.conf as

	KERNSRCDIR=${BSDSRCDIR}/sys
	KERNOBJDIR=${BSDOBJDIR}/sys/arch/${MACHINE}/compile

The next step is to make a new target in the src/etc/Makefile for "release"
(or something like that) to make release(7) format files.

46320bb017 Clean up the bus space function namespace somewhat; make sure they don't
collide with function names used in other parts of the kernel.

ad3073beaf Add an additional ISA DMA mode: LOOPDEMAND. This is for devices, such
as the Shark's CS8900 Ethernet, which want to use the DMA controller in
this mode (as opposed to single mode).

[Editor's note: committed from a Shark using a new bus_dma back-end
 and a CS8900 driver converted to use the MI code :-]

3497ab9a8c Add a pointer to an array of DMA ranges. DMA buffers must lie within
a range, or else an error is returned when loading a map. If the ranges
pointer is NULL, no range checks are performed.

86c54874c2 The newly churned maketars was apparently not tested in its normal
mode with no options and no parameters.

You have to be careful about the difference between $@ and $*.
In particular, "if [ -n "$@" ]" does not do what you think it will.

50604bf85b Kill off some EVCNT_COUNTERS calls, since [A] it has to be rewritten anyway
before it can be useful, and [B] #ifdefs do not belong at every call site,
a common API should be defined and the implementations conditionalized, not
the calls. Duhh.

Also, remove the initial XXX mystery_icu debugging code.

a0f70c580c New platforms: Mikasa and Mikasa/Pinnacle, aka Pinkasa.
Like the 1000A, the AlphaServer 1000 has a daughtercard assembly that
integrates the CPU and core logic, so these can be ev4/apecs or ev5/cia.
New systype, and, sigh, another way of doing interrupts and another
mystery icu.
