4b8e98ee2a Further collapsing of MD code:
- make_bsd_partitions() correctly handles PART_BOOT
- use bsddisklabel.c for pc532 and sgimips (this does change the default size
for the root partition, as it no longer includes twice the memory size).
- Change way ports define disk_names[] (in particular this lets me add "vnd"
for testing), also ensures all ports pick up new drivers.
I've make most ports use the default "wd", "sd", "ld".
Abort the search for disk units if we get ENOENT (ie no /dev entry) to
speed up the case where we are looking for a disk type that isn't
  supprted by the port.
(it is possible we could just check all possible disks on all ports...)

6fb33c4537 Reduce the number of global variables slightly, use the ones that are
left consistently.
Make the i386 install let you partition a disk beyond the CHS limit if the
system bios doesn't support LBA reads (the checks aren't ideal yet).
Make the bsddislabel.c code usable onan i386 system - but don't use it yet.

d5c9f83022 Use C structure mbr_sector_t instead of char[] for 'mbr'.
(I hope the edits for the ports I can't build are right!)
i386/amd64 pick up a minor change to the md_read_bootcode which
might preseve the bootselect config.

2b250668c1 When installing from floppy disks, let the user say which is the last one
on a set, instead of hardcoding the number of parts in sysinst (which gets
out of sync easily). The fdlast field of the distinfo struct has been
removed.

This solution is a bit simplistic but... anybody using the floppy
installation method will have to split sets himself (as we don't provide
them), so he will know which is the last one. Also, he will be able to
use whatever chunk size he wants.

Closes PR install/5050. Ok'ed by fvdl.

3a92d39fd3 Rip out the "special_kernel_list" code, as we now have differently named
kernel sets in dist_list[] instead. If we want logic like this, it needs
to be re-added as twiddling the "on" state of the correctly named kernel.

a5d73e00eb Rework the MBR code, and some of the labelling code.
* Use structures, not 2-dimensional arrays..
	* Use the DIOCGDEFLABEL ioctl to get the disk information,
to avoid confusion with (older) labels.
	* Don't ever call fdisk for partitioning. This was the
	  source of much confusion.
	* For the i386, use the BIOS geometry information passed by
	  the bootblocks.

Lots of things left to do, but it's a start.

1483395dbe Move DOS BIOS-geometry and MBR-handling code to MI code for powerpc, arc:
* Split bios geometry and MBR partition editing code formerly in
arch/i386/{md,fdisk}.c to mbr.c in mi directory.
  * Leave /sbin/fdisk parsing/handling code in separate file,
we may want to change it later. move to mi directory.
  * Create mbr.h with declarations for MBR/BIOS-geomotry code.
    #include "mbr.h" in  i386 md.h.
  * Use symbolic names for 386bsd and new NetBSD partition IDs.

Handle MBRs with both 386bsd and NetBSD partitions less stupidly.

0ed9642fe0 Add menu entries to md_distcustom for installing X11 sets
in menus.md.{eng,fr}, lifted verbatim from Alpha and pmax.
Give last split-floppy for each X11 set, for 1.3.

FIXME: if the number of floppies in any split set changes for 1.3.1,
syinst is hosed for 1.3.1. Same is true for any release: we can't
install from split sets if the count of floppies doesn't match
the precompiled version.

The number of floppies in a split set should be computed dynamically
from a directory listing, or read from a config file in the split
directory.

af1d23bed3 Import of sysinst. Not quite ready, but other ports want access for
parallel development. i386 version about 90% complete. pc532 version
just started, other architectures later in coordination with portmasters.

This is a curses based, menu driven installation program.

Better error checking is needed.
