Briefly tested sysinst on sparc miniroot.
It looks newer (appearred after 1.6) gzip tries to read less than DEV_BSIZE
(to check header?) so we can't use raw device directly.
(note sparc bootfs ramdisk doesn't have dd(1))

This cleans up a chunk of potential (and actual) namespace collision
within our build infrastructure, as well as improves consistency in
the share/mk documentation and provision of appropriate defaults for
each of these variables.
